As you all know, chicken liver is my hubby’s favorite thing to eat of all time. He loves it a lot. Specially if it is made into  dry dish like fry or masala. So last time i decided to make a pepper fry out of it. This recipe is very easy to make and it calls for ingredients which you have in your pantry already. This recipe is a super hot dish, all the spicyness comes from the pepper and some from the green chillies.I used freshly ground pepper in this recipe, i some how don’t like the store bought ground pepper powder. It taste sandy for me. But you can use it if you like it.

You can use this same recipe to make pepper chicken, pepper fish and for vegetarians you can make it with potato, cauliflower or tofu. I have  a very special recipe for pepper chicken, which i will post very soon, so keep checking my blog untill then…

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 15 to 20 mins
Serves – 2 to 3

Ingredients:

Chicken Liver – 200 grams
Oil – 2 tblspn
Bay Leaf – 1
Fennel Seeds / Saunf / Sombu – 1 tblspn
Cinnamon Stick – 1 small piece
Onions – 1 large sliced thinly
Garlic – 6 cloves sliced
Green Chilli – 2 chopped finely
Coriander leaves – 2 tblspn chopped
Lemon Juice as needed
Salt to taste

Spice Powders :
Turmeric powder / Manjal podi – 1 tsp
Coriander powder / Malli podi – 1 tblspn
Pepper powder – 2 tsp
Cumin Powder / Jeera podi – 1 tsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp

Method:

Take all the spice powders in a bowl. Add some water and make into a paste.

Heat oil in a pan. Add in the bayleaf, fennel seeds, cinnamon and saute for a min.

Add in onions, garlic, green chillies and saute for a min.

Add in some salt and mix well.

Now make a small space in the pan and add the spice mixture in and mix well till it gets cooked and oil separates from it.

Now mix the spices with the onions.

Now add in the liver and saute for 3 mins till it gets seared.

Pour half cup of water and cover the pan.

Cook for 5 to 10 mins till the liver is cooked.

Now open the pan and increase the heat to a high and cook till all the water evaporates.

Once it turns dry, add coriander leaves and some lemon juice.

Toss well.

Serve with rice.
