Cheese burst pizza is one of every cheese lover's dream that is gooey, melty and totally addictive. I recently made it at home using my own pizza dough and it turned out just like the one they serve at Domino's. The crust was golden, crispy on the outside with a rich, creamy cheese sauce inside which just melts in your mouth.

What I love most about making it at home is that you can control everything, right from adding how much cheese you want, the seasoning and toppings.

In this post, I'm sharing a simple, tried and tested method to make that classic Domino's style cheese burst pizza at home with the soft base that bursts with cheese flavour.

    About Cheese Burst Pizza

Cheese burst pizza is a super popular pizza made with a thick crust that is stuffed with warm, molten cheese inside. It looks like a regular pizza but once you take a bite, the creamy cheese filling oozes out and gives a cheesy experience.

This pizza became really famous in India after Domino's introduced it in 2007 and since then it became a favourite among pizza lovers.

When I first tried making it at home, I took some attempts and made variations to get the cheesy centre just right.

Initially, the regular mozzarella cheese was too stretchy, so I switched to smooth cheese sauce in the centre filling, which gave the perfect soft, creamy and cheesy texture. The cheesy pull is absolutely irresistible and worth the try!

The best part about the recipe is that the toppings and base are flexible; you can make the base with whole wheat flour dough, millet pizza dough or even use leftover roti. And add vegetables of your choice like paneer, corn, mushroom or chicken if you love.

    Ingredients

    • Pizza dough : This is the base of the pizza and I used my homemade pizza dough.
    • Cheese sauce : Cheese sauce is the key ingredient that gives the cheese burst effect inside the crust. It bakes creamy inside and gives a gooey, indulgent texture.
    • Pizza sauce : This sauce adds a slightly tangy and sweet flavour that balances the richness of cheese and seasoning. Spread a thin and even layer on the pizza base.
    • Vegetables : I have added vegetables like onion and capsicum. It adds mild sweetness and slight crunch when baked. You can add any topping of your choice like paneer, mushroom, corn, or chicken. It makes the pizza more flavourful and delicious.
    • Seasoning : Oregano and chilli flakes are the classic pizza seasonings that give the restaurant style aroma with a hint of heat.
    • Black olives : Black olives add a mild tangy taste that pairs perfectly with cheese.
    • Olive oil : Olive oil turns the pizza golden and slightly crispy when baked. It also adds a rich flavour to the pizza.
    • Mozzarella cheese : This is the main topping cheese that melts beautifully and gives the classic stretchy cheese pull. It adds a mild, creamy taste without overpowering the flavours.

    Step by Step Pictures

1)Preheat oven to 250 Degree C on grill mode. Line a baking tray with foil and oil it very well. Pop it into the oven and let it heat for 10 to 15 mins.

2)Divide your pizza dough into two balls. Once portion should be more than another. I am using my no yeast pizza dough.

3)Roll two dough into rounds. One should be larger than the other.

4)Now take the hot tray carefully from oven, place one spread pizza dough over it. Spread cheese sauce over it. This is my homemade cheese sauce.

5)Now cover with another one and seal the edges and crimp them.

6)Seal the edges and crimp it well.

    7)Now it is sealed well.

8)Then prick the top with some fork. So the pizza don't puff when baking.

9)Now spread some pizza sauce all over it.

10)Sprinkle with bell peppers and olives.

    11)Sprinkle with chilli flakes.

    12)Add in oregano.

13)Brush the edges with olive oil and drizzle some over the pizza as well.

14)Bake this in the oven on grill mode for 10 to 12 mins till the pizza is baked.

15)Remove the baked oven from oven.

16)Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top generously.

    17)Sprinkle with herbs.

    18)Bake till done.

    19)Slice and serve.

    Expert Tips

    • Spread the cheese sauce evenly on the pizza base and seal it tightly so that it doesn't leak while baking.
    • Make sure the oven is preheated so the crust bakes evenly.
    • Before baking, prick tiny holes on the top layer using a fork so that pizza won't puff up and form a crispy bottom.

    Storage & Serving

Store the leftover pizza slices in an airtight container and it stays good in the refrigerator for 1 to 3 days.

Serve the delicious Domino's cheese burst pizza with seasonings, cheese sauce or with tomato ketchup. Enjoy it hot and cheesy straight from the oven.

    FAQ

Can I use a whole wheat base instead of a regular pizza base?

Absolutely ! You can swap whole wheat pizza base for a healthier version and it has a mild nutty flavour which makes the pizza wholesome.

Can I make this without an oven?

Yes, you can cook it on tawa. Place the dough on a heated pan with seasoning and toppings. Cover it with a lid, cook on low heat until the cheese melts and the base is completely cooked.

    Can I add extra toppings?

Definitely ! You can add toppings like mushroom, corn, paneer or even chicken for extra flavour.

      Hey Aarthi,

Awesome...was thinking about this since I tried your No fail Pizza dough recipe and you posted this 🙂

I will definitely try this. Coupls of queries:

Can I use convection mode first time and use grill second time as my husband likes it lil brown?

Why is it that we are baking twice - can this be done in one go, if using convection?

      Thanks 🙂

@Sunshineyes u can use convection oven first and grill till golden.

U can do in one go, but i found that the cheese will turn crispy if u add it first itself. This way it stays gooey
