Easy Mushroom Pulao Recipe – Mushroom Pulav Recipe

Mushroom is my all time favourite veggie or ingredient to cook with. I have shared many mushroom recipes in my blog and this is a addition to my list. This is a simple pulav made with mushroom and it is so easy to make..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves : 3 to 4

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice – 1 cup
Oil / Ghee – 2 tblspn
Fennel Seeds /  Sombu / Saunf – 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam – 1 tsp
Cinnamon / Pattai – 2 cm piece
Cardamom / Yelakai – 3
Cloves / Krambu – 2
Bay Leaf –  1
Black Stone Flower / Kal Paasi -1 piece
Mace – 1
Onion – 1 large sliced thinly
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tblspn
Green Chillies – 3 to 4 slit
Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup chopped finely
Mint Leaves – 1/4 cup chopped finely
Mushrooms – 200 grams chopped
Coconut Milk – 1 cup
Water – 1/2 cup
Salt to taste

Method:

Wash and soak rice for 30 mins.

Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add in all whole spices. Let them sizzle for a min.

Add in onions and saute till golden brown.

Add in green chillies and ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.

Add in mushrooms and toss well in oil till it is cooked and got nice colour.

Add in coriander, mint leaves and mix well.

Now add in rice and toss well in the oil.

Now add in coconut milk and water. Mix well. Season with salt.

Cover with a lid and simmer to the lowest possible. Cook for 15 mins. turn off the heat and fluff the rice with a fork. cover with a lid and let it sit for 15 mins.

Now serve.

take your mushrooms..I used these milk mushrooms..
You can use any variety
cut them like this
chop them up
all done
take all your ingredients
heat oil or ghee in a pan
add in all whole spices
sizzle them for a min
add in onions
sprinkle little salt
cook till the onions get golden
add in chillies
and ginger garlic paste
mix well and cook for a min
add in mushrooms
mix well
cook this till it gets nice colour
like this
add in coriander and mint leaves
mix well
now drain the water from rice
add rice to the mushrooms
mix that well
let the rice toast for few mins
add in coconut milk
add water
mix well
bring it to a boil
cover with a lid and simmer
now it is done
fluff the rice with a fork, cover again and set aside for 15 mins

    Hi aarthi,
    After 15 minutes switch off flame and u told to sit the rice for 15 minutes,this is done without flame,right..

    @Daya Vaniyes the flame has to be turned off…so the rice wil absorb the excess water and gets fluffy

    Give the water and coconut milk ratio for rice

      it is 1 cup coconut milk and 1/2 part water
