Masala Mathri Recipe – Masala Stuffed Mathri Recipe

Mathri is a deep fried snack which is made so many ways. This one has a masala inside it and it is yummy.

This version of mathri is a stuffed one and it is masala filled one. I loved it with a cup of tea. It is just delicious.

Preparation Time : 15 mins

Cooking Time : 2 mins per batch
Makes: 15 mathri

Ingredients:


For Dough:

All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1 cup
Oil or Ghee – 3 tblspn
Salt – 1/2 tsp 
Water as needed
Oil for deep frying

For Filling:

Gram Flour / Kadalai Mavu / Besan – 1 cup
Sooji / Rava – 1 tblspn
Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Ajwain / Omam / Carom Seeds – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 2 tblspn
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi a pinch
Water as needed

Method:

Take all purpose flour, salt, oil or ghee in a bowl and rub well so it is well mixed in. Add water slowly and make a stiff dough.

Now take all filling ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Add water slowly and make a dough.

Now divide each dough into equal size small balls.

Take maida ball and flatten it, place filling ball in and cover from all sides. Now flatten it and roll it thin. Use a fork to prick it all over it.

Heat oil for deep frying, drop mathri in and fry till golden brown.

Drain and cool it down.

Serve.

add in asafoetida
add oil
mix it in
add little water
shape it into a dough
now divide them into tiny balls
take a dough
place filling in
seal it from all sides
flatten it
roll it and prick all over with fork
drop in hot oil
fry til golden
drain it
Serve
