    Masala Mathri with Step by Step Pictures. Stuffed snack which is called as masala mathri is perfect to serve with a cup of chai or coffee.

    Masala Mathri Recipe

    Mathri is a deep fried snack which is made so many ways. This one has a masala inside it and it is yummy.

    This version of mathri is a stuffed one and it is masala filled one. I loved it with a cup of tea. It is just delicious.

    Ingredients for Masala Mathri

    • Gram Flour / Kadalai Mavu / Besan - 1 cup
    • Sooji / Rava - 1 tblspn
    • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Ajwain / Omam / Carom Seeds - ¼ tsp
    • Oil - 2 tblspn
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi a pinch
    • Water as needed

    How to Make Masala Mathri

    1. Take all purpose flour, salt, oil or ghee in a bowl and rub well so it is well mixed in. Add water slowly and make a stiff dough.
    2. Now take all filling ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Add water slowly and make a dough.
    3. Now divide each dough into equal size small balls.
    4. Take maida ball and flatten it, place filling ball in and cover from all sides. Now flatten it and roll it thin. Use a fork to prick it all over it.
    5. Heat oil for deep frying, drop mathri in and fry till golden brown.
    6. Drain and cool it down.
    7. Serve.

    • For Dough:

    Take maida in a bowl
    add salt
    add oil or ghee
    mix well
    add water
    make a dough. set aside
    take besan in a bowl
    add sooji
    add salt and chilli powder
    ajwain
    add in asafoetida
    add oil
    mix it in
    add little water
    shape it into a dough
    now divide them into tiny balls
    take a dough
    place filling in
    seal it from all sides
    flatten it
    roll it and prick all over with fork
    drop in hot oil
    fry til golden
    drain it
    Serve
