    Masala Pori Recipe with step by step picture. This kara pori recipe is made with Puffed rice ,Roasted Peanuts and Chana Dal. Crunchy snack made with puffed rice.

    Masala Pori Recipe

    If you are looking for a quick spicy crunchy snack to go with your cup of tea then this is it..It is a puffed rice snack and it is a bit spicy but has lots of crunchy elements on them like peanuts, garlic, curry leaves. You can add some roasted gram dal in this, i didn't have any so i skipped that.

    Ingredients for Masala Pori Recipe

    • Puffed Rice / Pori - 4 cups
    • Peanuts - 2 tbsp
    • Roasted Chana Dal / Pori Kadalai - 2 tbsp
    • Garlic - 5 cloves chopped
    • Curry leaves a handful
    • Dry Red Chillies - 2 broken into pieces
    • Salt to taste
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi a pinch
    • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - ½ tsp
    • Chilli Powder - ½ tsp
    • Oil - 2 tsp

    How to make Masala Pori (Kara Pori Recipe)

    1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in peanuts, garlic and fry till golden.
    2. Add in curry leaves, dry red chillies and mix well.
    3. Add in salt and spice powders, toss well.
    4. Add in pori and give a quick toss.
    5. Let it cool, store in a air tight container for a week.
    6. Serve

    Masala Pori Recipe step by step pictures 

     
    Take all your ingredients
    heat oil in a pan
    add peanuts, you can add some roasted chana dal too
    roast till golden
    add in garlic (chopped)
    fry them
    cook till they get crispy
    add in broken chillies
    add in curry leaves
    mix well
    cook till everything is well roasted
    now add little asafoetida
    add turmeric, chilli powder and salt
    toss well
    add in puffed rice
    toss well..Turn off the heat and let it cool
    Serve
    Store this in an air tight container for a week

      One issue, salt is not mixing well with Pori, eventhough it is salted pori.
      Any suggestions?

        may be you can dry toast the pori with some salt first.
