    Methi Paneer is a popular north indian dish made using fresh fenugreek leaves and indian cottage cheese. Methi and paneer is cooked together in spices to create a creamy rich curry. This curry goes well with roti or jeera rice.

    Methi Paneer Recipe

    Methi paneer curry is my go to recipe. It is fast to make and taste yummy with chapati or poori or bhaturas. Its been a while since I shared any paneer recipes, so i decided to make this quick fix curry and share it with you all.

    About Methi Paneer

    Methi paneer is a popular north indian dish. It is a mix of fresh fenugreek leaves and homemade cottage cheese cooked together in a sauce of onion, tomatoes, spice powders and cream. 

    Ingredients for Methi Paneer

    Methi - methi means fenugreek leaves. fresh fenugreek leaves is used in this recipe which adds a freshness and is packed with tons of nutrients. if you can't find fresh methi use dried methi soaked in water.

    Paneer - paneer is called as indian cottage cheese. homemade paneer taste much better than store bought. There are few tips to make paneer soft.

    Onions & Tomatoes - onions and tomatoes are stir fried and pureed. That makes the base for the curry.

    Cashews - cashews are used along with onions and tomatoes to create creaminess in the dish. instead of cashews you can use cream.

    How to Cook Paneer Soft

    • if you use store bought paneer. cube them. fry them in oil and soak them in warm water till use.
    • if you don't wish to fry the paneer, just cube and soak them in warm water.

    How to Make Methi Paneer

    • Heat oil in a pan, add paneer and fry till golden, Drain and immerse in a bowl of hot water. Set aside till use.
    • In the same pan, add onion, tomato and cashew and cook for 5 to 6 mins. Now take this in a blender and puree. Set aside.
    • Now heat some more oil in the same pan, add methi and cook that for 5 mins. Now add in spice powders and mix well.
    • Add the pureed onion and tomato mix and cook till oil separates.
    • Now add in water, salt, sugar and mix well.
    • Add paneer and mix well. Simmer for 10 mins.

    Ingredients
      

    • Oil - 2 tblspn + 2 tblspn
    • Paneer - 200 grams cubed
    • Onion - 1 large chopped
    • Tomato - 2 large chopped
    • Cashews - 3 tblspn
    • Fresh Methi - 3 cups chopped
    • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
    • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
    • Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
    • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Sugar - 1 tsp

    Instructions
     

    • Heat oil in a pan, add paneer and fry till golden, Drain and immerse in a bowl of hot water. Set aside till use.
