Mint and ginger tea has been our go-to caffeine free tea, mainly for its warm, refreshing and health benefits. This aromatic beverage has the perfect combination of zesty ginger and cool, calming menthol of fresh mint leaves. This drink is a perfect way to start your day to revitalize and recharge your body and helps with digestion during sick days or busy mornings.

    Mint and Ginger Tea

Mint and ginger tea is perfect for digestion. I didn't add any tea in this because I want it to make it caffeine free, but you can just use little black tea or green tea in this as well. You will get all the benefit of this tea when you drink this early morning.

Ginger is known for its many health benefits like it helps in digestion, reduces nausea, calms sick body and even it has natural anti inflammatory properties. Since it is caffeine free, kids can enjoy this too.

When fresh ginger is added to hot water, it releases its flavour which gives the tea its gentle warm and subtle spice. Check my spiced tea and mint tea with milk and ginger cardamom tea.

Mint, on the other side, also has natural cooling properties that helps soothe the throat and aids in digestion. And honey adds natural sweetness that balances well with spicy ginger and cooling mint.

With these three basic ingredients, you can make a comforting, revitalizing drink to have during cold or busy days.

    Ingredients

    • Water : Water is the base that is used to extract the flavours of mint leaves and ginger. It keeps the drink light, refreshing and hydrating.
    • Mint leaves : Mint leaves add a fresh and cooling aroma to the tea. It helps with digestion and soothes your throat.
    • Honey : Honey is a natural sweetener that balances the spicy ginger and the cooling effect of mint. It also soothes the throat and gives a comfort relief.
    • Grated ginger : Use fresh good quality ginger for a warm, spicy flavoured tea. Ginger also helps in digestion, reduces nausea and makes the tea more revitalizing.

    Step by Step Pictures

1)Take a sauce pan, add required amount of water. Add few washed mint leaves.

2)Grate some ginger into the water. if you like less pungent, you can slice or chop the ginger instead of grating.

3)Place on heat and allow it to come to a full boil. Take it off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.

4)Take a serving cup. Drizzle as much honey as you want.

5)Now strain the brewed mint and ginger tea over the honey and mix well.

6)Press using a spoon and extract as much tea as possible.

7)Mix the tea really well so the honey melts into the tea.

    8)Serve immediately.

    Expert Tips

Use fresh ingredients : Always use fresh ginger and mint leaves as they release fresh, strong flavour and aroma.

Don't boil : Simmer the tea for about 5 to 10 minutes instead of boiling. This helps to extract the flavours from ginger and mint and preserve their nutrients.

Adding lemon : If preferred, add lemon juice at the end to give the drink an extra aroma and subtle tangy taste.

Storage & Serving : This mint and ginger tea tastes best when served warm and freshly brewed. So, enjoy it warm during chill days for a soothing and refreshing taste.
