    Ingredients for Making Mohanthal

    • Gram Flour / Kadalai Mavu / Besan - 1 cup
    • Ghee - ½ cup
    • Milk - 1 tblspn
    • Almonds - 3 tblspn sliced thinly
    • Sugar - ½ cup
    • Water - ¼ cup
    • Cardamom Powder - ½ tsp

How to Make Mohanthal Fudge at Home

    1. Grease a setting tray generously with ghee and set aside.
    2. Take gram flour, ¼ cup of ghee in a bowl and mix well. Now add in milk and rub well so it is mixed into a crumbly mixture. Set aside for 5 mins.
    3. Now heat remaining ghee in a nonstick pan, add the besan mixture and fry that for 20 mins on low flame till it is toasted. Make sure the raw smell leaves from it and it is nicely toasted. Set that aside.
    4. Take sugar and water in a sauce pan and heat till the sugar is melted. Now bring it to a boil and cook till 2 string consistency is formed. it will take around 5 to 6 mins. When you take the sugar syrup in a spoon and drop it, the last drop falling from the spoon will form a string like and when it is fully dropped it will form another thread like.
    5. Take it off the stove add in cardamom powder and mix well.
    6. Now take the besan mixture and heat it. Now pour in the sugar syrup and mix well. Keep cooking till it gets all frothy and foam like.
    7. Spoon this into the greased bowl, top with sliced almonds and set aside for 15 to 30 mins.
    8. Cut into squares and serve.
