Plum Preserves Recipe with step by step pictures. Plum Jam Recipe with No Pectin and No Preservatives. This plum jam is easy to make and needs just 2 ingredients to make.

    Plum Jam Recipe

I have mentioned this before itself, that i love love love making homemade jams and preserves..So far i have made orange jam, apple jam, tomato jam and pineapple jam..I have made amla preserves and amla in honey too.

Making jams at home is kind of therapeutic and makes you feel happy. Because you know that the jam you are going to use has real stuff in it, not just sugar and fruit essence..This is my version of making plums jam, it is chunky and delicious, because as you bite into you get chunks of plums in your mouth.

I love to have it as it is. It has a little tartness in it along with sweet taste too..So hope you try this out and let me know how it turns out.

    Ingredients for Plum Jam

    • Ripe Red Plums - ½ kg / 3 cups of chopped plums
    • Sugar - 1.5 cups
    • Lemon Juice - 1 tblspn

    How to Make Plum Jam

    1. Wash plums well in water. Dry them using a paper towel. Slice them around to get rid of the seeds.
    2. Now measure the plums and add it to a sauce pan.
    3. Add in sugar and mix well. Now put this on heat and mix well till the sugar is melted.
    4. Bring this to a boil and boil it for 5 mins.
    5. Put a plate in the freezer.
    6. Now simmer the pan and cook it for 10 mins. Add in lemon juice and mix well.
    7. Now increase the heat and let it come to a good boil. if you see the plums will boil like crazy and be frothy and have changed much darker in colour.
    8. Now take the plate out and drop a spoonful of juice in it. It will get thick and be like jam consistency. If it is still watery you can put it back on stove and cook for few more mins.
    9. At this point you can turn off the heat and let the preserve cool completely.
    10. Now put this in canning jar or regular sterlized jar and put in fridge.

Pectin in jam has a great effect on its thickness. There are numerous health benefits to it as well.
