Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves : 5 to 6
Prawns - 500 grams cleaned
Salt - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
Brinjal - 1 large chopped
Tomatoes - 1 large chopped
Tamarind Pulp - 2 to 3 tblspn
Salt to taste
For Roasting & Grinding:
Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated
Coriander Seeds - 3 tblspn
Dry Red Chillies - 5 to 6
Onion - 1 medium size chopped
Curry leaves a handful
Turmeric Powder / Manjal podi - ½ tsp
Oil - 1 tblspn
Method:
Take prawns in a bowl, add little salt and turmeric powder. Mix well and leave to marinate for 10 mins.
Heat 1 tblspn oil in a pan, add in coriander, chillies, curry leaves and onion. Saute till golden. Add in coconut and saute till golden. Now add in turmeric and mix well. Cool this down, take it in a blender and puree till smooth.
Take tomatoes and brinjal in a earthernware pot, Add in water and salt. Bring it to a boil and cook till veggies are half cooked.
Now add in coconut masala, tamarind and mix well. Cook for 5 to 8 mins.
Now add in prawns and simmer for 5 to 8 mins.
Now the curry is done.
Take cleaned prawns in a bowl |
add in salt |

mix well and set aside |
Take your ingredients for roasting and grinding |
in a pan, add curry leaves, coriander, chillies and onions |
add a tblspn of oil |
fry for few mins till golden |
add in coconut |
mix well |
fry till it gets little darker |
add in turmeric |
mix well..cool it down |
take it in a blender |
puree till smooth |
chop some brinjal and tomatoes..you can use drumstick too |
add it to a earthernware pot |
cover with water |
season with little salt |
bring it to a boil and cook till veggies are half cooked |
add in coconut masala |
mix well |
add in tamarind juice |
salt |
mix well |
cook till veggies are done |
add in prawns |
simmer for few mins |
keep simmering |
now the curry is done |
prawns are cooked |
serve |

As usual Yummy Tummy recipes suites well to my taste. In this I followed certain subtle changes in the given recipe based on my personal preference and it turns out to be awesome. Instead if big onions I used smaller ones and while marinating along with turmeric and salt, added pepper as well. I used coconut milk instead of raw coconut. Other things remain same. Thanks Aarthi for this wonderful recipe!! 😊

Hey i think in your ingredients it should be 3 teaspoons of coriander seeds and not tablespoon. This curry now only tastes of coriander and nothing else 😢
