I love trifles, they are my absolute favorite..I have tried them in one of the bakery. They use a awesome sponge cake base which is filled with creamy custard and topped  with jelly. I took that theme and made it so simple…

I used awesome stuff of dreams, Fruit Cocktail. These are so versatile, they are fruit which is already chopped for you and sealed in a can, so you don’t have to worry about peeling, chopping any of those overly ripe fruits and make yourself messy..All you have to do is just open up a can.

I used the syrup which the fruit is preserved as my liquid used to wet the sponge cake. I made a simple custard using readymade custard powder. Totally this trifle is a masterpiece with no effort. You can serve this for any parties, I am sure that your guest will be wowed by this desert.

    Ingredients:
Sponge Cake - 1 packet ( I used Vanilla Flavour)
Fruit Cocktail - 1 can ( Reserve the juice for soaking the cake)
Custard Powder - 3 tblspn ( I used Vanilla Flavour)
Sugar - 5 tblspn or to taste
    Milk - ½ liter
    Method:
Chop the fruit from the can to small pieces and set aside.
Dissolve custard powder with a little milk and mix well. Set this aside.
Take a sauce pan. Add sugar and milk to it and allow them to dissolve.
Pour the custard mixture in to this and mix well. Heat this on a low heat.
Keep mixing till they turns thick and creamy.
Switch off the flame and pour them to bowl and chill them.
Now assemble the trifle. You can use large bowl or individual glasses.
Place the sponge cake in the bottom of the glasses.
Spoon few tsp of the fruit cocktail juices over them.
Spoon  some custard mixture over this.
    Finally top with fruit pieces.
Chill it for couple of hours and serve cold.
