    Ube Ice cream Recipe

I love purple colour. Specially when our food gets that colour naturally then it is awesome. purple sweet potato is an amazing ingredients. It is usually added to filipino desserts which gives that bright colour to the foods.

In our place i couldn't get fresh sweet potato. So i used powdered form which was so cute and gave this natural purple colour.

    About Ube Ice Cream Recipe

Ube ice cream is a Filipino ice cream flavour made with the main ingredient ube (purple yam). This ice cream is frequently used in the preparation of the dessert halo-halo.

Ube has been a staple of Filipino desserts, most notably ube halaya, due to its vibrant violet colour and mildly sweet and nutty flavour. The first recorded use of ube in ice cream was in a 1922 recipe, when ice cream was introduced to Filipino culture during the American occupation (as the local adaptation sorbetes) and led to new flavours
such as mango, pinipig, and melon. The ingredients were mashed ube, milk, sugar, and crushed ice. Ice cream was also hand-churned at the time in a garapinyera, a manually operated ice cream mixer.

Lately i have been making lots of frozen dessert for this summer. It is good to make your own desserts like popsicles, ice cream or sorbet instead of buying it at the stores. Maha loves popsicles and ice creams a lot. So i usually pour fresh fruit juices in my popsicle moulds and put in the freezer. So i can give it for her whenever she asks for it. I made a huge batch of ice creams or sorbet and put in my freezer too.

Normally i make vanilla ice cream in huge batch and store in freezer. Since it comes handy whenever i want to make either falooda or milkshakes. I can even give maha a quick ice cream sandwich by scooping some ice cream inbetween some cookies. It is delicious.

This is a unique ice-cream but it taste so delicious. This is a no churn ice-cream recipe.

    Ingredients for Ube Ice cream

    Purple Sweet Potato Powder

This purple sweet potato powder is extremely simple to make and mostly entails inactive cooking. After blitzing it, store it in a cool, dry place for up to a month. It can be used for plating, as a natural purple food colouring in pasta and bread doughs, and as a colouring agent in desserts, creams, fillings, icings, and ice creams.

    Sweetened Condensed Milk

Sweetened condensed milk is cooked until it thickens and becomes a creamy caramel-like pudding that can be used in a variety of dessert recipes. Its delicious on its own, with ice cream, in coffee, or spread on apple slices.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is ube flavor ice cream?

Ube (pronounced ooh-beh) is a mild, sweet purple yam from the Philippines. The flavour has been described as nutty, or as a cross between vanilla and pistachio. It is frequently used in Filipino desserts, with ube ice cream being one of the most popular
    preparations.

    What does ube taste like?

Although both ube and purple sweet potatoes have a sweet, earthy flavour, ube has a nuttier, vanilla-like flavour. Aside from taste differences, ube is more moist than sweet potatoes, which have a drier texture.
