Sweet Corn Pulav (Pilaf)

We were visited by my long time blog follower nafeesa yesterday, it was totally awesome. She came with her husband all the way from madurai to visit us. How nice it is...We had lots of fun and it was really wonderful. Yes ofcourse i cooked some yummy stuff for her. They really enjoyed my food and i am happy about that. Thank you nafeesa for visiting us, we loved you guys..

Now coming back to today's recipe, it is a yummy pilaf. I added some sweetcorn in it and made it a little colourful one. It was totally yummy and wonderful.Hope you will try it and let me know how it turned out.

Preparation Time : 10 mins + 30 mins for soaking rice
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves - 2 to 3


Basmati Rice - 1 cup
Sweet corn - 1 cup ( I used frozen)
First extract Coconut Milk - 1 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Ghee - 1 tblspn
Onion - 1 large sliced
Tomato - 2 chopped
Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tblspn
Green Chilli - 3 slit
Bay Leaf - 1
Cashews - 5
Sultanas / Kishmish - 6
Cinnamon / Pattai - 1 small stick


Wash and soak the rice for 30 mins.

Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add in cashews, sultanas, cinnamon, bayleaf and saute for 30 sec.

Now add in onions, green chilli, salt and saute for 5 mins till they turn golden.

Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.

Add in tomatoes, sweetcorn  and mix well.

Add in the drained rice and saute well in the ghee.

Now add in coconut milk and water. Bring it to a boil.

Simmer the cooker and cover the pressure cooker and cook for 1 whistle. Switch off the flame and let the pressure go all by itself. If you are cooking in normal pan, cover the pan with a tight fitting lid. Simmer and Cook for 15 mins, and leave it covered for 10 mins.

Now open the pan and fluff it up.

Serve with raita.

Take all your ingredients
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker.
Add in bayleaf, cinnamon, cashew and raisans
Add in onions, green chilli
Sprinkle in salt
saute till golden
Add in ginger garlic paste
Sweetcorn and tomatoes
Add in rice
Mix well
Pour coconut milk
mix well
Bring to boil
Cover and cook
Till done

  2. Pulav looks delicious.. I too make this very often but i usually dont add coconut milkthis is new to me will try this once..

  3. akka,if i use fresh sweet corn drctly from the kernels,how to add tat here?
