Chilli Cheese Bajji Recipe - Batter Fried Cheese Stuffed Peppers Recipe

Mirchi Bajji or Mulaga Bajji is one of my all time favourite. I have shared a traditional bajji recipe here, but this has been my mind of quite long time and finally i made it couple days back and when i tasted it it was delicious..

I used my homemade bajji bonda mix which i was having in my fridge for quite a long time. if you dont have that, you can just use a normal bajji batter which i have mentioned in the written part of the recipe..

Preparation Time : 15 mins
Cooking Time : 2 to 3 mins
Serves: 3


Bajji Bonda Mix - 2 cup (Recipe here)

Banana Peppers / Bajji Mirchi - 6 
Oil for deep frying
Water as needed
Chaat Masala Powder to taste

For Filling:

Onion - 1/2 cup chopped finely
Cheese - 1 cup grated
Salt to taste
Coriander Leaves - 4 tblspn finely chopped

For Bajji Bonda Mix:(Mix all ingredients)

Gram Flour / Kadalai Mavu - 1 cup
Rice Flour / Arisi Mavu - 1/4 cup
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tblspn
Chilli Powder - 1 tblspn
Salt to taste
Baking Soda / Cooking Soda - 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi - 1/4 tsp
Water - 3/4 cup or adjust


Mix all the ingredients for filling really well. So the cheese gets mushed into the onions.

Now slit banana pepper in the middle, fill it with filling.

Now mix water with bajji bonda mix and make a little thick batter.

Coat the mirchi with the batter and drop in hot oil and fry till golden on both sides.

Sprinkle top with some chat masala and serve.


Take all the ingredients
Now lets grate some cheese..I used cheese cubes

grate them
Take chopped onions in a bowl

add in cheese

add in coriander leaves

season with some salt

Mix well..filling done

Now take your peppers

Slit it open

remove the seeds

spoon the cheese mix in

add in water

Mix well...The batter has to be little thick, so no filling can come out when frying

Now take your mirchi

Dip it in batter

coat it well

Drop bajji in hot oil and fry till golden

Drain it

sprinkle top with some chat masala powder
