    Mathri is a popular north indian snack. This is a sweet version of the snack. The snack can be made in a jiffy. This sweet mathri is made with wheat flour, jaggery and then deep fried.

    Mathri is a deep fried snack which is made so many ways. This one is a sweet version, i have share methi mathri and masala mathri before.

    Mathri is a popular north indian snack. This is a sweet version of the snack. The snack can be made in a jiffy. This sweet version is made with wheat flour, jaggery and then deep fried. 

    Popular mathri can be made as evening snack or as diwali snack too.

    Ingredients for Sweet Mathri

    • Jaggery - ½ cup

    • Water - ¼ cup

    • Wheat flour - 1 ¼ cup

    • Fennel Seed Powder - 1 tsp

    • Ghee - 2 tblspn

    • Oil for deep frying

    How to Make Sweet Mathri

    1. Take jaggery and water in a sauce pan, heat till it is melted. Set aside to cool.
    2. Take wheat flour in a bowl, add fennel seed powder, ghee and mix well.
    3. Now strain in the jaggery syrup and mix well. Add more water if needed.
    4. Make it into a dough.
    5. Now roll it little thick, cut using a cutter or bowl into rounds, prick all over with fork.
    6. Now fry them in oil till crispy.
    7. Drain and serve.

    Sweet mathri Step by Step

    Take jaggery in a sauce pan
    add water
    heat till it is melted
    take wheat flour in a bowl
    add fennel seed powder
    add ghee
    mix well, so it resembles a crumble
    make a well in the center
    place a strainer
    pour the jaggery syrup over it
     
    knead well
    knead to a stiff dough
    roll it little thick
    use a round cutter or bowl to cut it
     
     
     
     
     
    prick with fork
    time to fry
    fry in medium heat till crispy
    serve
