Vazhaipoo Vadai Recipe / Banana Flower Vadai Recipe

Vazhaipoo is such a healthy veg for us..Really healthy but taste so yummy. We can make thoran, poriyal with it. But the tasty dish is making vadas from it. Masala vada / Paruppu vada is delicious, but this one taste so much good than masala vada.

This vada is so crispy on the exterior and so moist and fluffy in the middle. I loved it so much, that i made it two days in a row. This one i made it the second day, so the banana flower turned little black but nothing horrible..
I hope you will try this out and let me know how it turns out for you..
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Soaking Time : 2 to 3 hours
Cooking Time : 1 to 2 mins per batch
Serves : 5 to 6

Ingredients:
Banana Flowers / Vazhaipoo – 3 cups cleaned and finely chopped
Chana Dal / Kadalai paruppu – 1 cup
Onion – 1 finely chopped
Green Chillies – 3 finely chopped
Ginger – 1 tblspn grated
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Coriander Leaves / Cilantro – 2 tblspn chopped finely (optional)
Fennel Seeds Powder – 1 tsp (optional)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying

Method:
Soak chana dal for 2 to 3 hours. Drain it and take it in a blender. Puree them roughly without adding any water. Take it in a bowl.
Clean banana flower and chop it really finely.
Add the chana dal mix in the same bowl along with all the ingredients except oil. Mix well.
Heat oil for deep frying.
Take small portion from it and flatten it slightly.
Drop in hot oil and fry for 1 to 2 mins. Drain and serve.

Pictorial:
Take cleaned banana flowers, i remove and cleaned
it two days before, so it turned black..Nothing horrible..
