    Candied Citrus Peel Recipe - Homemade Candied Orange Peel

    Candied peels are great in cakes or puddings. It is such a easy recipe to make using the peels of citrus fruits which we will normally throw away. You can make them a bunch and store them in fridge and use whenever needed.

    This is so easy to make, you dont need any special ingredients for this, just peels, water and sugar.

    Preparation Time : 10 mins
    Cooking Time : 30 mins
    Resting Time : 3 to 4 hours

    Ingredients:

    Orange Peels from 4 oranges
    Lemon Peels from 6 lemons
    Sugar - 1 cup 
    Water - 1 cup + more
    Caster Sugar - ¾ cup


    Method:

    Remove the peels from fruit, slice off as much white part from the peels. Slice into strips and set aside.

    Take water in a sauce pan, add the peels in and cook for 2 mins. Drain it.

    Now fill fresh water in the pan and add the peels back in and cook for 3 mins this remove the bitterness from it. Drain it. 

    Now take sugar and water in a sauce pan, bring it to a boil. Add the peels in and cook for 5 to 10 mins till it is done.

    Now drain it and spread it in a parchment paper so it gets dry. Let it dry for 2 to 3 hours.

    Now take it in a bowl, and sprinkle the top with some caster sugar. Toss well.

    Spread it in parchment paper and let it dry for 1 hour or so.

    Now store in a air tight container.

    This will stay good for 1 to 2 months in fridge.
