Candied peels are great in cakes or puddings. It is such a easy recipe to make using the peels of citrus fruits which we will normally throw away. You can make them a bunch and store them in fridge and use whenever needed.

Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Resting Time : 3 to 4 hours

Ingredients:

Orange Peels from 4 oranges
Lemon Peels from 6 lemons
Sugar – 1 cup
Water – 1 cup + more
Caster Sugar – 3/4 cup

Method:

Remove the peels from fruit, slice off as much white part from the peels. Slice into strips and set aside.

Take water in a sauce pan, add the peels in and cook for 2 mins. Drain it.

Now fill fresh water in the pan and add the peels back in and cook for 3 mins this remove the bitterness from it. Drain it.

Now take sugar and water in a sauce pan, bring it to a boil. Add the peels in and cook for 5 to 10 mins till it is done.

Now drain it and spread it in a parchment paper so it gets dry. Let it dry for 2 to 3 hours.

Now take it in a bowl, and sprinkle the top with some caster sugar. Toss well.

Spread it in parchment paper and let it dry for 1 hour or so.

Now store in a air tight container.

This will stay good for 1 to 2 months in fridge.
