Recipe forĀ Chettinad Kavuni Arisi sweet made with black glutinous rice. Very popular chettinad recipe. With step by step pictures.
Kavuni arisi is very new to make. But i have seen many recipes all over the internet using kavuni arisi. So i bought a pack of it. First I used that to make dosa, but it turned out to be a failure. I didn’t knew that kavuni arisi is sticky and high in glutinous. So when i tried making dosa the dosa turned very sticky and a horrible mess. Later i had to add lots of rice flour to it, to finish the batter.
Then i used to remaining rice to make this sweet which is a traditional chettinad sweet recipe. The sweet was super hit, i was surprised how easy the sweet is to make. Kavuni arisi takes lots of time to cook, so i soak them in advance atleast 6 hours before or overnight.
Kavuni arisi is super healthy. The key reason for its superfood status is the presence of anthocyanin, a powerful antioxidant. Black rice is also rich in fibre and is a source of phytonutrients that cleanse the body. This natural detoxifier also contains significant iron and protein.
