    About Chilli Garlic Momos

Momos is my all time favourite, I make it quite often. Hubby enjoys it more than me. So it takes part in our weekly menu quite often.

This is a different style of momo recipe in which fried momos is tossed with an Indo - Chinese style chilli garlic sauce. The sauce is made with garlic, onions, bell peppers, red chilli sauce, soy and seasonings.

The sauce just clings over the fried momos makes it so irresistable. You can enjoy this as an appetizer or as a side with noodles or fried rice.

    • Momos - I used veg fried momos. You can use store bought or frozen dumplings too.
    • Flavourings - garlic, chillies and onions adds the flavour to the sauce.
    • Vegetables - I used bell peppers alone, mixed colour bell peppers adds pop of colour.
    • Sauces - soy, chilli garlic sauce, vinegar adds taste to the sauce.
    • Seasonings - salt, sugar and a pinch of MSG adds the umami taste to the sauce.

    Step by Step Pictures

1)Make fried momos as per this recipe. I made veg momos, You can use store bought leftover momos or frozen momos too. Any dumplings can be used. Deep fry till golden brown. Set this aside.

Now lets make the sauce. Heat oil in a pan. Add in onion and garlic. Saute on high heat for a minute.

2)Now add in green chillies and stir fry for few seconds.

3)Add in bell peppers which are cubed so they mix into the sauce.

4)Add in red chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, soy sauce and vinegar. These sauce combo gives perfect balance of taste.

5)Mix the sauce with the vegetables. Now add in salt and sugar to taste. If you prefer restaurant style taste, add a pinch of MSG.

6)Pour little water and mix with the vegetables. Let it come to a full boil.

7)Once the sauce starts boiling. Mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoon of cold water. Add this cornstarch slurry into the sauce and mix well. The sauce will start to thicken immediately.

8)Once the sauce thickens, add in the fried momos.

9)Toss the fried momo into the sauce really well. Let the momo gets coated with the sauce.

    10)Serve immediately.

You list red chili sauce but don't reference what type or brand or anything. I want to make this but don't know what chili sauce to use

I have added links to my homemade chilli sauce in the recipe card. U can use store bought chilli sauce. Any brand would work.
