Corn and Cheese Balls Recipe / Cheese Corn Balls Recipe

If you love corn and cheese, then this is for you..These are very addictive, you want to pop them in your mouth and never want to stop. Great one for kids, after school snack.

This is so easy to make. Infact you can make a big batch of them and freeze them in a foil lined tray till they are frozen, then collect all of them in a plastic baggie. You can fry whenever you want them straight from the frozen stage.

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 20 mins for cooking potatoes
Frying Time : 1 min per batch
Makes : 15 balls

Ingredients:

Cornstarch / Cornflour – 3 tblspn
Water – 1/4 cup
Breadcrumbs – 1 cup
Oil for deepfrying


For Balls:
Potato – 1 large boiled, peeled and mashed
Sweetcorn – 1/2 cup cooked
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Red Chilli Flakes – 1 tsp
Oregano – 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves – 2 tblspn finely chopped
Cheese – 1/4 cup grated ( i used amul cheese cube)
All Purpose Flour / Maida – 2 tblspn
Cornflour / Cornstarch – 2 tblspn


Method:

Mix all the ingredients given for the balls to a dough. Take small portions from it and roll it smoothly into small balls.

Take cornflour in a bowl and add little water to it and make it into a runny liquid. Dip each balls in the liquid and roll it in breadcrumbs.

Pop this balls in freezer for 15 mins.

Heat oil for deep frying, drop the balls in and fry till golden.

Drain onto some paper towel.
Serve with ketchup


HOW TO FREEZE THESE BALLS:
You can make a big batch of them and freeze them in a foil lined tray till they are frozen, then collect all of them in a plastic ziploc baggie or a container. You can fry whenever you want them straight from the frozen stage.

Pictorial:
Take all your ingredients
Peel boiled potatoes
mash them roughly
add in sweetcorn, i added whole kernels, but you
can puree them roughly in a blender and add it..
add little salt, red chilli flakes, pepper and oregano
add little coriander leaves
now add in grated cheese
Add some maida
Add little cornflour
mix really well
Take a small portion of the mix
Shape it into ball
All done
Now take some cornflour in a bowl
dissolve it with some water
take a ball
dip it in cornflour slurry
drop it in breadcrumbs
coat on all sides
done
I popped the plate in freezer for 15 mins
Heat oil for deep frying
drop balls in
fry till golden
just like this
drain it
put it in some paper towels
Serve with ketchup

    Sometimes when I deep fry, bread crumbs are seen separated in oil.. how can I avoid that..

    Hi Aarthi. The cheese balls look great. I have a question about the bread crumbs. Do you make bread crumbs at home or you get them from the market. If you buy them, can you tell me the brand plz.
