    About Tutti Frutti Cookies Recipe

A cookie is a small, flat, sweet snack or dessert that is baked or cooked. It is typically made with flour, sugar, eggs, and some kind of oil, fat, or butter. Other ingredients such as raisins, oats, chocolate chips, nuts, and so on may be included.

Except in the United States, crunchy cookies are known as biscuits in most English-speaking countries. Many Canadians use this term as well. Even in the United Kingdom, chewier biscuits are sometimes referred to as cookies. Some cookies, such as date squares or bars, may also be named after their shape.

Tutti frutti is a brightly coloured confectionery that contains various chopped and usually candied fruits, or an artificial or natural flavouring that simulates the combined flavour of many different fruits and vanilla, particularly the pollica variant. It is best known in Western countries outside of Italy as ice cream.

Ingredients for Tutti Fruity Cookies Recipe

    • All Purpose Flour / Maida – 125 gms / 1 cup / 4.5 ounces
    • Corn Flour / Corn Starch – 125 gms / 1 cup / 4.5 ounces
    • Butter -100 gms / 3.5 ounces / ½ cup
    • Sugar – 125 gms (Powdered) / 1 ¼ cup
    • Vanilla -1 tsp
    • Tutti Fruity – 100 gms / ⅔ cup / 3.5 ounces

All Purpose Flour / Maida :

All-purpose flour can be used for a variety of tasks, including baking, cooking, coating meats and vegetables, and thickening sauces and gravies. To manufacture all-purpose flour, a blend of hard wheat (which has more gluten) and soft wheat is crushed together. Maida requires more oil or butter when baking or cooking
because it is lighter and rises faster, which is why bakers prefer maida to atta.

Corn flour / Corn Starch :

It functions as a thickening agent. Corn starch is also combined with flour in baking formulas to increase crumb strength while also increasing grain tenderness.

    Tutti fruity :

Tutti frutti is a brightly coloured confectionery made up of various chopped and usually candied fruits, or an artificial or natural flavouring that simulates the combined flavour of many different fruits.

The cool thing about this cookies is it is eggless. The original recipe called for only regular maida, but I added corn flour  to make this cookies even more tasty. Amma and my sister’s loved this cookies, they didn’t keep even a single cookie for me to have a taste, this clearly shows how much they liked it.

    2. Add butter, sugar and vanilla in a mixing bowl and beat till smooth and fluffy.
    3. Add cornflour and maida in this and mix well.. Add tutti fruity and mix well.
    4. Form into a round log and put it in a wax paper or plastic wrap and roll it.
    5. Twist the edges and put in the fridge for 30 mins or until firm.

@Janani GunasekaranIt is because of uneven baking. You can rotate the tray half time of the cooking. so it will bake evenly

      Hello Aarthi,

I baked these today, had issues with forming the dough. The dough was very crumbly and did not come together, so had to add a little milk. After baking, the cookies became very flat

      Hi
I totally love your recipes and blindly follow them. So when I tried this one it didn't happen as given. Firstly, the cookie dough wasn't coming together so I added a little extra butter and 2 tsp of milk. That made a good cookie dough. While baking it took a lot of time, around 40 mins, I kept checking but they were soft so I kept for so long. And when I took them out of the oven they were a little soft but once cooled down, they're now as hard as rocks. What went wrong? Pls help. 😭😭

I think u have over baked. cookies will be soft when they come out of oven, as they cool they will harden

      Aarthi,

The cookies leave an after taste in the mouth.I felt the cornflour amount is way too much and this resulted in a floury after feel

Although I agree that different ovens, different temperatures, these cookies took way too much time to bake and resulted in hard as rock cookies.

As for measurements, I followed it to the T. However, without incorporating a liquid medium the dough just doesn't bind together. I am precise with my measurements as I am a baker myself, so no doubt about that.

      Thanks for the recipe.
