    Ginger kuzhambu or Inji Kulambu with step by step pictures. This medicinal curry is made with spices, ginger which has healing benefits.

     

    Inji Kuzhambu

    Ginger kulambu is a great recipe for lactating mom. Having this daily when you are still feeding your little one helps them to get relieved from stomach pain and vomiting. Including ginger often in our diet is really good for stomach ache, stomach worms, vomiting and many other problems.

    Ingredients for Ginger Kuzhambu

    • Oil - 3 tblspn
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 2
    • Curry leaves - a sprig
    • Tamarind - 1 lemon size
    • Water - 1.5 cup
    • Salt to taste
    • Sugar / Jaggery - 2 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tblspn
    • Black Pepper - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 4 to 5
    • Curry leaves - a handful
    • Ginger - 4 tblspn chopped finely

    How to Make Ginger Kuzhambu

    1. Soak tamarind in water for 15 mins. squeeze and extract the juice.
    2. Heat little oil in a pan, add roasting spices and fry for a min. Add in ginger and saute till golden. Take it in a blender and puree till smooth.
    3. In the same pan, heat some more oil, add mustard, dry red chilli and curry leaves. 
    4. Add in pureed masala and saute for few mins.
    5. Add tamarind juice, salt and sugar and mix well.
    6. Simmer for 15 mins.
    7. Serve.

    Ingredients

    • Oil - 3 tblspn
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 2
    • Curry leaves - a sprig
    • Tamarind - 1 lemon size

    • For Sauteing & Grinding:
    • Oil - 1 tsp + 2 tblspn
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tblspn
    • Black Pepper - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 4 to 5
    • Curry leaves - a handful
    • Ginger - 4 tblspn chopped finely

    Instructions

    Ginger Kuzhambu Step by Step

    Take tamarind in a bowl and add water

     

    squeeze and extract juice

     

    Heat oil in a pan

     

    add pepper and urad dal

     

    add in dry red chillies

     

    curry leaves

     

    saute them for a min

     

    add in ginger

     

    toss well

     

    saute them for few mins

     

    take it in a blender

     

    puree till smooth

     

    heat oil in a pan

     

    add in mustard, dry red chilli and curry leaves

     

     
    let them sizzle

    add in pureed masala

     

    mix well

     

    saute for 5 mins or so

     

    add tamarind juice

     

    mix well

     

    add salt

     

    add sugar

     

    mix well and simmer for few mins
