Gujarati Potatoes Recipe – Batata Chi Bhaji Recipe

I made a gujarati thali few days back and this is one dish which i made for that. It is a quick recipe to make and taste fantastic. Adding crushed peanuts in a dish is new for me but it really worked. Check out my other Gujarati Recipes too.

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves: 4 to 5


Ingredients:

Potatoes – 4 peeled and cubed
Oil – 2 tblspn
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam – 1 tsp
Green Chillies – 2 chopped finely
Salt to taste
Sugar – 1 tsp
Roasted Peanuts – 3 tblspn crushed
Coriander Leaves a handful chopped finely


Method:

Take cubed potatoes in a sauce pan, cover with water and add salt. Bring it to a boil, simmer till potatoes is done. Strain it.

Heat oil in a kadai. Add cumin and chillies.

Add in potatoes and season with salt and sugar, Cook till it gets lightly golden.

Add in crushed peanuts and toss well. Fry this for 5 to 8 mins

Add in coriander leaves and mix well.

Serve

Take potatoes
peel them
cube them
take it in a sauce pan, cover with water
add salt and cook till tender
drain them
take all your ingredients
heat oil in a kadai
add cumin
add chillies
add potatoes
toss well
season with salt and sugar
cook till it gets nice colour
like this
add crushed peanuts
toss well
now it is almost done
add coriander leaves
Mix well
Serve

    Potato Vegetable is called
    Bataka-ni Shak in Gujarathi and
    Batatya-chi Bhaji in Marathi.
