    About Apple Tea

Apple cinnamon tea is made by simmering fresh apples, cinnamon, ginger, tea in water. This tea can be sweetened with any of your favorite sweetener including honey, sugar, brown sugar or maple syrup.  Apple cinnamon tea can be consumed any time of the day, specially during cold weather day. It is popular in Turkey but loved and consumed all over the world.

I enjoy making this tea often because the aroma of apples and cinnamon while simmering fills the entire house with warmth and deliciousness. I prefer using any sweet apples in this recipe. Also use a whole cinnamon stick for making the tea since ground cinnamon can make the tea cloudy.

As a variation in flavour, you can add cloves, cardamom, orange peel or lemon peel which adds warmth to the tea.

Apples - use fresh apples for making Apple tea. You can use fresh sweet apples in this process. You can either peel the skin from apple or leave it unpeeled.

Cinnamon - fresh cinnamon stick is used for making tea. Ground cinnamon is not recommended since it makes the tea cloudy.

Ginger - I like to add slices of fresh ginger, it adds a warmth to the tea.

Tea leaves - you can use green tea or black tea or which ever tea that you prefer. If you want caffeine free option, you can omit the tea leaves as well.

Lemon - this is optional, I prefer a little tangy taste in my tea so I add few drops.

Sweetener - you can use honey, maple syrup, or any sweetener of choice.

Turkish Apple Tea vs Apple cinnamon tea

Tea is one of the most popular beverage of choice in turkey. Turkish Tea is made in a special tea kettle which is similar to samovar. The tea kettle has two chambers, lower chamber has water boiling which infuse the tea and it is collected in the upper chamber. The tea made is concentrated in flavour which can be diluted with hot water and flavoured as per your choice.

Turkish apple tea is made with dried apples, cinnamon, water and honey. You can find ready made Turkish apple tea mix  available on the market. It is available in both powdered form or ready mix. The tea is brewed in a special Turkish tea pot as well.

But this apple cinnamon tea is made with fresh apples, cinnamon, ginger and added tea leaves. This is more mild in flavour and has caffeine content too.

Hello, I am trying to make apple cinnamon tea without caffeine. For medical reasions I also need it to have zero processed foods (tea bag, cinnamon powder...). Do you have any suggestions for me. Simply cooking water, apples and cinnamon turns out bland.
      Thanks
      Karen
