    Green Tea Recipe, is one of the most popular beverage from China and Japan which is loved by many all over the world. Brewing a perfect cup of green tea is easy and can be made with just 2 ingredients quality green tea leaves and water. Green tea can be brewed in a tea kettle or just made in a sauce pan but it is packed with so many health benefits. In this blog post, learn how to make green tea with step by step pictures and video.

    Green Tea, when you are in diet, drinking green tea and natural hot drinks helps in weight loss. I make so many version of hot drinks. Mostly I will be consuming green tea a lot. Many of my viewers asked me how to make green tea, so here I am sharing my version of perfect green tea recipe.

    About Green Tea

    Green tea is one of the most popular hot beverage that is loved by many. It is consumed by many because of its health benefits. Unlike other tea leaves, the preparation of green tea is slightly different which makes it unique. Green tea is made from the Camellia sinensis plant. Green tea is prepared by steaming and pan-frying the leaves and then drying them.

    This Green tea is beverage which helps improve mental health and digestion. It also helps in weight loss and helps relieve headaches and fatigue. It has tons of health benefits which has been a traditional medicine in China and Japan for thousands of years.

    Making a proper cup of green tea recipe is made with just 2 ingredients green tea leaves and water. You can find loose green tea leaves and green tea bags in the market. Making a cup of perfect green tea depends on two things, quality of green tea leaves and the temperature of water. I have shared all details below.

    Health Benefits of Green Tea

    Green tea has numerous health benefits in them including weight loss, anti inflammatory, anti-cancer and digestion. Here are some other benefits that will make you love green tea even more.

    Packed with Antioxidants -  Green tea contains catechin. Catechins are antioxidants that help prevent cell damage.

    Fat Burning - it improves metabolism and helps burning fat.

    Lowers the risk of cancer - it is proven that green helps reduce the risk of cancer.

    Manage Blood Sugar - green tea may help reduce blood sugar while fasting and helps sugar level spike up.

    Types of Green Tea

    Loose Green Tea Leaves

    Generally drinking loose leaf tea and consuming the leaves is healthier than drinking green tea brewed from tea bags which is mostly preferred in china and Japan. Try to source best quality finest green tea leaves.  Making green tea with loose leaves requires straining. So it is not ideal when travelling.

    Green Tea Bags 

    Different brands of green tea bags are available in the market. Try to find best quality green tea bags. Green tea bags are great when travelling because of its convenient. 

    Traditional Way of Making Green Tea

    Traditionally green tea is made in kettle. Japanese & Chinese green tea is made authentically using kettle specially made with ceramic or stone ware. Traditional tea brewing kettle has a filter inside in which the tea leaves are added before pouring hot water into it. 

    Traditional Japanese tea pot is called as kyusu, sometimes spelled kyuusu, is a traditional Japanese teapot used for brewing Japanese green tea. Kyusu comes with a handle on the side. Because of the thick outer of the kettle, brewed green tea stays hot longer. 

    How to Make Green Tea with Green Tea Bags

    1. Place tea bag in your serving cup. Boil 1 cup (240ml) of water to 212℉.
    2. Pour the water onto the teabag.
    3. Infuse teabag for 4 minutes.
    4. Remove the teabag and enjoy your deliciously refreshing Green Tea!

    How to Make Green Tea (Stepwise Pictures)

    1)Take sauce pan for boiling water.

    2)Pour 1 serving cup of water into the sauce pan.

    3)Place it on heat and bring it to a boil. Green tea is best when brewed at 212℉. If you don't have thermometer, you can bring it to a full boil.

    4)Once water comes to a full boil. Take it off the heat and set aside for 3 to 4 minutes. This is important to bring the water to the right temperature.

    5)Now add in green tea leaves or you can use tea bags.

    6)Once tea leaves is added into the water. Mix it gently.

    7)Cover the pan with lid and let it sit for 4 minutes.

    8)Green tea is brewed.

    9)Place strainer over the cup.

    10)Strain the tea into the cup.

    11)Press the tea leaves gently to remove excess tea.

    12)Serve green tea.

    Expert Tips

    • Don't add green tea leaves to super hot water. Else it will turn bitter.
    • Use best quality green tea for best flavour and health benefits.
    • You can use lemon juice, honey to flavour green tea.
    • Instead of using loose tea leaves, you can use tea bags.

    Equipment

    • Sauce Pan
    • Strainer

    Ingredients

    • 1 cups Water
    • ½ tsp Green Tea Leaves
    • 1 tsp Honey optional

    Instructions

    • Take water in a sauce pan, bring it to a rolling boil. Now take it off the heat and let it sit for 3 minutes.
    • Add in green tea leaves. Cover the pan with a lid and let it sit for 4 minutes.
    • Strain using a sieve and enjoy.
    • You can add honey to taste, even some lemon juice can be added. But i don't add anything to it.
