Have you ever had onion bhajjis with a cup of tea in a rainy day.If you haven’t tried, I would advise you to try it immediately..Because it is delicious..The hot crispy bhajjis will keep you warm and comforting through out the day…Hmm..I love that..
I already have a ulli vadai recipe in my blog..I have written about my experience in that post..This is a simple version of onion bhajji. My mother makes this often but she has her own twist in making it. You can serve this bhajjis as it is, but I made onion bhajji pav with it to make a complete meal out of it. This pav recipe needs the chat chutneys, you can find the recipes in my blog..

Hope you like it and let me know what you think…

Ingrediants:

For Onion Bhajji:
Onion – 3 cups Sliced
Gram Flour / Kadalai Mavu / Besan – 1 cup
Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi -1 tsp
Whole Coriander Seeds – 1 tblspn Crushed
Green Chilli – 1 finely chopped
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1tblspn
Salt to taste
Oil for Deep frying
For Serving:
Pav Buns / Laadi Pav – as needed ( Click Here for Recipe)
Green Chutney / Teekha Chutney – as needed ( Click Here for Recipe)
Tamarind Chutney / Meetha Chutney- as needed ( Click Here for Recipe)
Garlic Chutney / Sukha Lehsun Ka Chutney- as needed ( Click Here for Recipe)
Green chillies- as needed ( optional)
Method:
Mix all the ingrediants given in the bhaji list ( except oil ) together along with some water to a smooth thick mixture. Don’t add too much water.
Heat oil for deep frying. Drop spoonful of batter in the oil and fry till golden brown. Drain in a paper towel and set aside.
Drop green chillies in hot oil and fry for a min. Remove this to a paper towel.
Now time to assemble..Take all the stuffs to a table..You will need Pav Buns , Green Chutney ,Tamarind Chutney, Garlic Chutney, fried bhajjis, fried green chillies..All these recipes are available in my blog, click in the recipe to go to that page.
First slit the pav bun in half and apply green chutney and tamarind chutney on the sides. Drop some bhajjis in the center and top it with some garlic chutney..Now if you very brave stuff a green chilli inside the bun and dig in straight away.
Enjoy your Bhajji Pav with a cup of chai.
Pictorial:
Take all your ingrediants
Slice up your onions
Add Ginger Garlic Paste
Chilli powder
curry leaves and green chillies
crushed coriander seeds
salt and turmeric
and mix well
add gram flour to this
pour over some water
and mix well
Take a spoonful
and drop in hot oil
fry till golden and set aside..Your Onion Bhajji’s are ready
now fry up some green chillies
till it is fried
remove and set aside
Time to assemble
Slit the bun and apply some chutney over it
place the bhajji in the center along with the chilli
DIG IN..
