    About this Recipe

    Sprouted green gram, also known as mung beans or moong, is a rich source of fibre and is fat-free. Due to high fibre content, they are filling and extremely healthy. Some of the sprouted green gram benefits include improving eyesight, enhancing bone and heart health as well as enhancing the immune system. Mung beans can also be enjoyed sprouted, both raw and cooked.

    The sprouted beans are best enjoyed in stir-fry meals and curries. Bean sprouts are derived from the mung bean, which is thought to be indigenous to Northeastern India. They are also Asian and Japanese in origin. Bean sprouts have been cultivated for over 5,000 years. Bean sprouts were first cultivated in the United States in 1830, when they were known as Chickasaw peas.

    Sprouted moong refers to whole moong beans, which have been sprouted. In order to sprout the moong, first it has to be sorted to remove stones, washed, and then soaked in water for 6-8 hours.

    Chaat, also known as chat, is a family of savoury snacks that originated in India. They are typically served as a hors doeuvre or at roadside tracks from stalls or food carts throughout South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

    Ingredients for Moong Sprouts Chaat Recipe 

    Moong Sprouts :
    Moong Sprouts are not the same as Soybean Sprouts. Mung bean sprouts are the thin, edible shoots that sprouted mung beans produce. They have a crunchy texture and a subtly sweet flavour and can be eaten raw or slightly cooked. They are most commonly found in Asian cooking.

    Potatoes :
    It was introduced to India by Portuguese sailors in the early 17th century, and British colonists spread its cultivation to North India. The potato is one of the most important commercial crops grown in the country.

    Chat Masala Powder :
    Chaat Masala has a distinct and easily identifiable flavour. Its a complex blend of tart, spicy, salty, tangy, and sour flavours with a hint of sweetness.

    Ingredients

    • Moong Sprouts - 2 cups
    • Potato - 1 large peeled chopped and boiled
    • Carrot - 1 small chopped
    • Onion - 1 small chopped finely
    • Coriander leaves - 3 tblspn finely chopped
    • Lemon Juice to taste
    • Black Salt to taste
    • Chat Masala Powder to taste
    • Chilli Powder to taste

    Instructions

    • Take moong sprouts in a colander and place it over a sauce pan of boiling water and steam cook for 5 to 6 mins till it is done.
    • Now take this in a bowl and add all other ingredients and mix well.
    • Serve.

    Moong Sprouts Chaat Step By Step

    Take moong sprouts in a colander and place it over a sauce pan and steam cook for 5 to 7 mins

     

    now it is cooked

     

    take it in a bowl

     

    add boiled potatoes

     

    carrots

     

    onions

     

    add coriander leaves

     

    add lemon juice

     

    black salt

     

    add chat masala powder

     

    add chilli powder

     

    toss well
