You know my love for making jams from my jam list. Still i have lots of jam to try and enjoy starting from mixed fruit jam, banana jam and my all time favorite strawberry jam. So far i have made orange jam, tomato jam and pineapple jam. Among them my favorite is the pineapple jam. Amma favorite is tomato jam. I have to try my hands on homemade orange marmalade too, i am waiting for the season to arrive.
Now coming to this jam, i made this so many months back, when i was pregnant. I got to post this right now only, somehow it stayed back in the draft folder. This jam is so tasty, i love making homemade jam because it taste so fresh. It makes you feel that you are eating a fruit, unlike the store bought ones taste only like a fruit flavoured jelly. I used this apple jam to fill my thumbprint cookies and i also used this to fill my rustic jam tarts which i will post soon.
So try this out and let me know what is your favorite jams..
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 30 to 35 mins
Apples - 4 Big & Juicy ones (5 cups when chopped)
Sugar - 3/4 to 1 cup
Lemon Juice - 1 tblspn
Wash, peel and chop apples. Take them in a microwave safe bowl, cover them and cook for 10 mins. You can cook in stove top too, take apples in a saucepan, add 1/2 cup of water, bring everything to a boil. Cover with a lid and simmer till the apples are completely cooked through.
Now use a masher to mash the cooked apples. you can mash it completely or leave it chunky.
Add sugar and mix well.
Now transfer this entire thing to a kadai and cook on a medium heat. Cook till it gets thick and leaves the sides of the kadai. It will take around 15 to 20 mins.
Switch off the flame and add some lemon juice. Mix well.
Trasfer this to a container and let it cool.
Store in a air tight container.
1)Use clean, dry, air tight bottle to store this jam. 2)Always use clean spoon while handling this. 3)This keeps well for a week when stored in clean, dry shelf. If you want to store for longer period of time, store this in fridge. I recommend you to store in fridge always.
