Tawa Fish Fry Recipe

I have so many fried fish recipe in my blog. Each time i make them quite differently. This is one recipe which i made recently and loved the combination of it.

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Marination Time : 30 mins
Cooking Tim: 12 to 15 mins
Serves : 2 to 3


Fish - 3 (I used paarai fish)
Coconut Oil - 4 to 5 tblspn

For Marination:
Chilli Powder - 1 tblspn
Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 2 tblspn
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1.5 tblspn
Pepper Powder - 2 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tblspn
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tblspn finely chopped
Curry leaves - 2 tblspn finely chopped
Lemon Juice - 1 tblspn
Water as needed
Salt to taste


Clean fish pieces, make deep slashes in it.

Mix all the ingredients for marination and add very little water and make it into a thick paste.

Apply masala all over the fish, deep into the slits and slashes.

Leave this to marinate for 30 mins.

Heat coconut oil in a pan, place fish over it. Cover it and cook on a medium low heat for 5 to 6 mins. Now flip over and cook on high heat for 5 more mins. Now the fish is done.

Serve with lemon wedges and onion rings.

Take all your ingredients

These are the marinating ingredients

First take all of them together

Give a good squeeze of lemon juice

mix well

Now u can see, the masala is little dry

Add very little water

make it into a smooth paste

Take your fish pieces..I made deep slashes over it

Spread the masala deep into the slashes as well

Apply it all over the fish

massage it into the fish

all done

leave it to marinate for 30 mins

A quick trick is, if you have sunlight falling in the kitchen, place it near the sunlight and let it marinate..
This is a trick from my husband

I heated few tblspn of coconut oil and placed the fish pieces over it

cover and cook

now flip over and cook it

all done

serve with lemon wedges and onion rings

  5. @Anonymouscovering the lid will make the fish cook faster and keep it moist..
