Ultimate Orange Marmalade Recipe

I love making jams, not only it is healthy to make at home. But homemade jams taste really delicious than the store bought kind. I have never made marmalade before, when i saw few oranges lying in the fridge..I decided to make marmalade using that and it turned out delicious.

As usual i dont like to add pectin or preservatives in my jam..I make it with just fruit puree, sugar and a dash of lemon juice. The lemon acts as a preservative. In this marmalade the preservatives is sugar and lemon..

Now i have a whole jar of marmalade in my fridge. I will be using those in my baking and spreading over my buttered toast..YUM...Hope you will try this out and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 15 mins
Cooking Time : 45 mins

Ingredients:

Oranges - 500 grams
Sugar - 1 kg
Lemon Juice - 3 tblspn
Water - 5 cups

Method:

Put a plate in freezer.

Wash oranges really well. Cut it in quarters, remove seeds and white membrane. Slice it thinly and set aside.

Take oranges in a pot, add in water and bring it to a boil. simmer it and cook till oranges is cooked completely. It will take around 30 mins or so..

Now add sugar in and mix well. boil this and cook for 10 to 15 mins keep stiring this. It will get thick.

Now take the plate from freezer, spoon the marmalade into it and bring it together using your hands, it will look like a jam or jelly.

Now add in lemon juice and mix well. Cool this down and store it in a clean jar.

You can store it for 10 to 15 days outside and for more than 4 to 5 months in fridge.

  2. @WeeCkwhen u pour the syrup in the frozen plate, it will cool down instantly and show you the consistency. When u bring it together using your finger, it will form like a soft jelly or spreadable jam consistency. It will clearly show you the jam consistency.
