    Banana and Blueberry Smoothie Recipe, is a powerful antioxidant rich smoothie that you can make and enjoy for breakfast. This smoothie is made with frozen blueberries, banana, yogurt, milk, which makes it super filling and nutrient dense. Make a glass of this smoothie for your breakfast and you are good to start your day.

    Blueberry banana smoothie is a family fav! Specially it is my little daughter's favorite breakfast and after school snack. I have made this blueberry smoothie over a dozen of times the past month.

    Every time I see fresh blueberries on the market, I pick few packs of them for making smoothie. As soon as I come home, I give them a good wash and freeze them immediately. Same with bananas, every time I see ripe bananas, I freeze them for using later. This way I can make smoothies in a matter of minutes.

    As you all know blueberries are packed with antioxidants, so this smoothie is amazing for you. You can make this for breakfast and a healthy and nutritious breakfast is ready in minutes.

    The question which I get asked the most is " how to make smoothie extra creamy ". I can give you 2 tip, use frozen fruits for making any smoothies. Also add some ice cubes and yogurt to creamy the cafe like smoothie texture.

    Ingredients

    • Blueberry - use fresh and sweet blueberries to make this smoothie. I always prefer to use frozen berries which makes the smoothie extra creamy.
    • Banana - use ripe banana that is frozen for making this smoothie extra creamy. I usually freeze over ripe banana for making smoothies.
    • Milk & Yogurt - Milk and greek yogurt helps make the smoothie thick and also adds protein into it.
    • Sweetener - I prefer honey, you can use maple syrup or agave. If you want you can skip sweetener.
    • Flavourings - a small dash of vanilla adds a hint of aroma to the smoothie which makes it so delicious.
    • Ice cubes - this is optional, but I like my smoothie super cold, so I add few cubes of ice.

    Step by Step Pictures

    1)To make this smoothie thick and creamy, you need frozen banana and blueberries. You can buy them frozen from some shop or freeze them yourselves.

    2)Take frozen banana and blueberries in a blender.

    3)Add in ice cubes and milk. I used full fat regular milk, you can use almond milk, oat milk or soy milk for dairy free and vegan options.

    4)Add in greek yogurt. greek yogurt is high in protein, make sure it is unsweetened. You can also use plain yogurt.

    5)Add in honey or maple syrup if you are using vegan options.

    6)Add a dash of vanilla. Even though this is optional, vanilla adds flavour to the smoothie.

    7)Now that all the ingredients is added into the blender, we are going to blend till creamy and smooth.

    8)This is how it looks once blended.

    9)Pour the smoothie into serving cups.

    10)Enjoy immediately.


    Expert Tips

    Choosing fruits - Even though you can use fresh fruits for this smoothie. i always prefer to make smoothie with frozen fruits since they help make the smoothie super thick and creamy. Also make sure the fruits are naturally sweet.

    Vegan option - If you want vegan and dairy free option, you can use any dairy free milk like soy milk, almond milk, oat milk instead of regular milk. Also use coconut yogurt instead of regular yogurt. And maple syrup instead of honey.

    Add ons - you can add in a spoon of yogurt, chia seeds into this smoothie to make it even more filling.

    Serving - You can serve this immediately for better texture, for more filling breakfast enjoy with toast or oatmeal.

    Storage - Leftover smoothie can be kept frozen upto 2 months and thaw in fridge 2 to 3 hours before hand. In fridge you can store upto 2 days.
