Classic Bread Pudding with Vanilla Custard Sauce Recipe

I get many emails from my viewers to share easy puddings and desert ideas..This is one recipe which i made recently and it is addictive..It needs a handful of ingredients which u must be already having on hand..The taste is just fantastic..

I have already shared a baked eggless bread pudding recipe in this blog. This one is a classic bread pudding recipe made with eggs and it is the ultimate comfort food on a cold day. Love it on its own or with some custard sauce on the side.

I made this simple custard sauce using custard powder and milk. I will soon share a traditional custard sauce recipe using eggs soon..
Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Baking Time : 45 to 50 mins
Serves: 5 to 6


Ingredients:


For Bread Pudding:
Brioche Buns or any bread – 3 chopped
Milk – 1 cup
Cream – 1/2 cup
Butter –  4 tblspn + extra
Eggs – 3
Sugar – 1/2 cup or as needed
Vanilla Essence – 1 tblspn
Raisans – 3 tblspn
Salt – 1/2 tsp


For Sauce:
Custard Powder – 1 tblspn
Sugar – 2 to 3 tblspn
Milk – 1 cup
Vanilla Essence – 1 tsp


Method:

Grease a baking pan with butter and set aside. Preheat oven to 180 degree C.

Take buns and cut into cubes and let them dry out sitting in the board for an hour or so.

Take milk, cream and butter in a sauce pan and heat it till the butter is melted. 

Now take eggs, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and whisk well till combined.

Now add in the milk and cream mix and whisk well.

Now add bread cubes in this mix and let this sit for 30 mins or so.

Now pour this in baking pan, top with raisan and make sure it is immersed in the custard mix. Top with some more cubes of butter and sprinkle some sugar on top.

Now pop this in oven and bake for 35 to 40 mins. Remove it and set aside.

While it is cooking, make the custard, Take custard powder and sugar in a bowl, add some milk and mix into a smooth mix.

Heat milk in a sauce pan and bring it to a boil. Now reduce the flame and add in the custard mix and cook till it thickens.

Now remove it from stove and add in vanilla. Let it cool down, pour it into a jug and set aside.

When serving, scoop some pudding a serving plate, top with some custard sauce and serve.

Slice into into pieces
Cut it into chunks
Let it air dry for few hours so it dries out
take milk in a sauce pan
add in cream
add in butter
heat till butter is melted

add in vanilla

whisk till combined
add in milk mix in
whisk till mixed
add in bread cubes in
mix well
let it sit for 30 mins
Pour this in the baking pan
Top with raisans
keep the raisans immersed in the custard mix
top with sugar
dot some butter and bake it in oven
Take ingredients for custard sauce
take custard powder in a bowl
Add in sugar
add in milk
mix till it is mixed well
take milk in a sauce pan
bring it to a boil
add in the custard mix
mix well
cook till it thickens
now it is done
add vanilla
pour it into a jug and set aside
the sauce should be pourable consistency
Now it is baked
scoop a generous portion in a bowl
top with sauce
