    About Homemade Cream Recipe

    Cream is a dairy product which has higher-fat layer skimmed from the top of milk. Milk is boiled and then cooled to get the thick layer of malai from it. Malai is then collected for few days to get a decent amount of cream.

    In many countries partially fermented cream is also sold: sour cream, crème fraîche, and so on. Both forms are used in many culinary forms in both sweet and savoury dishes.

    Quantity of cream production depends on the type of milk you use. Buffalo milk tends to yield more cream (malai) than cow's milk because of its higher fat content.

    Excess cream can be churned into making of Homemade Butter and Ghee.

    INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING FRESH CREAM RECIPE

    Milk is the only ingredient used to make cream at home. Use high quality cow's milk or buffalo milk, even goat milk can be used in making cream. The taste of the cream will vary as per the milk used.

    HOW TO MAKE FRESH CREAM RECIPE AT HOME (STEPS)

    BOILING MILK

    Take cows milk in a sauce pan. Bring it to a full boil. It will take around 10 mins.

    RESTING THE MILK IN FRIDGE

    Once the milk starts to boil. Take it off the heat, cover with a lid. Place it in fridge overnight. So the malai formed on top can harden and set.

    REMOVING MALAI(CREAM)

    The next morning. Remove the pan from fridge. Slowly remove the malai using a slotted spoon. It will look like a thick layer or malai which has a slight yellow colour to it. 

    STORAGE OF CREAM

    Transfer the malai to a clean container which has a lid to it. Place the collected cream bowl in fridge or freezer (as per preference). Repeat this process for few days. The more milk you use the more malai you get. Fresh cows milk yields more malai than packet store bought milk. Buffalo milk also help in more malai production.

    Cream is used as an ingredient in many foods, including ice cream, many sauces and soups uses cream as the main ingredient. Cream is main ingredient in many dessert recipes like puddings, pies, mousses.

    Whipped cream is served as a topping ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, lassi, eggnog, sweet pies. Cream is also used in Indian curries such as masala dishes. Some of the most popular recipes that uses cream are Paneer Butter Masala, Malai Chicken, Murg Malai Kabab, Butter Chicken.

    Light or Single Cream are be added to coffee.

    Both single and double cream can be used in cooking. Double cream is often used when the cream is added to a hot sauce, to prevent it separating or "splitting".
