Finally I made this recipe yesterday and everyone loved it and cake went down in a few minutes.

    About Cocoa Cake

This cocoa cake is the kind of simple, no-fuss cake you can make anytime with basic pantry ingredients. Made with cocoa powder, it has a rich chocolate flavour without being overly sweet, which makes it perfect to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.

It's a simple, classic cake that doesn't need any frosting or fancy toppings. A slice of this is perfect with a cup of coffee.

The texture is soft, moist, and light, and the recipe is very easy to follow, even for beginners. If you are looking for a basic cocoa cake that turns out perfect every time, this is the one to try.

Over the years, I have made so many cakes and this one is such an easy recipe. You need basic ingredients like butter, sugar, vanilla, plain flour, eggs, raising agent and water.

The one thing you have to take care is adding dry ingredients and water in small additions. This way it makes the perfect and fluffy batter. I used water in the batter, Swap water with milk for even more soft cake.

You can bake this cake and store at room temp for upto a week with no issues.

    • Plain flour - use plain flour, you can use half wheat flour and half plain flour for the cake batter.
    • Sugar - granulated sugar is best for this recipe. You can powder it in a blender before adding in the batter.
    • Eggs - use room temperature eggs in the batter for perfect texture.
    • Butter - use soft room temperature unsalted butter for the cake batter.
    • Cocoa - unsweetened cocoa powder is used and choose the finest cocoa powder for best taste.
    • Baking soda - this is the raising agent used in the cake.
    • Water - I used water in the batter, Swap water with milk for even more soft cake.

    Step by Step Pictures

    Pre preparation

1)Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Prepare a 23 cm bundt cake pan or 9x2 inch pan by greasing it with oil and dusting it with flour and coat it on all sides. Tap of the excess and set aside.

    Dry Ingredients

2)I sifted my dry ingredients, but you can just mix in a bowl. Take plain flour and cocoa powder in a sieve.

    3)Add in salt.

    4)Add in baking soda.

5)Sieve them really well and set aside. This is your dry ingredients.

    Creaming Butter

7)In a large mixing bowl, take softened unsalted butter, caster sugar or powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric beater to cream this well for 2 to 3 minutes.

8)Add in one egg at a time and cream really well.

9)The batter should get light and fluffy.

10)Once the first egg is mixed into the butter, add the other egg.

11)Cream this again until mixed through.

    Make Cake Batter

12)Now add in the dry ingredients into the batter in three small additions. Don't add all at once. Just add ⅓rd of the dry ingredients first.

13)Pour in water. I am using water, but you can swap it for milk as well.

14)Use a spatula to gently fold the batter.

15)Now add in the ⅓ rd of the dry ingredients.

16)Pour the water into the batter and fold gently.

17)Now add in the rest of the dry ingredients into the batter.

18)Fold it again with a spatula until it is smooth and combined.

    Baking cakes

19)Transfer the batter to the prepared pan. You can use a square baking tray or a loaf pan too. Place it into a preheated oven and Bake for 45 to 55 mins. Insert a tooth pick to check whether the cake is baked or not. It should come out clean.

20)Remove from oven and allow it to cool completely.

21)Once cooled, invert to a serving plate and enjoy.

@sutapa Purkayasthait is because, you are over filling the cake mould, so the top gets cooked before the bottom is cooked.

Dont fill the cake tin above 3/4th.
      Try using bigger pans

@sutapa PurkayasthaYou can use half wheat and half normal flour, and also in my opinion there is no sub for eggs in this cake, because it makes softer, Will share a eggless version soon
