    Poondu Thogayal Recipe

    Thogayal is such a versatile thing to make, thogayal is little thicker than chutney so it can be either mixed with rice or as a sidedish for porridges or whatever.

    Ingredients for Poondu Thogayal

    • Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated
    • Garlic Cloves - 5 to 6 peeled
    • Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
    • Dry Red Chillies - 5 to 6
    • Salt to taste
    • Tamarind - a small piece
    • Water as needed
    • Oil - 2 tsp

    This is one simple thogayal with is made with garlic. The ingredients in this are roasted and ground. I served it with ulundu kanji and it was just perfect. I had some leftover which i had with dosa for dinner.

    How to Make Poondu Thogayal

    1. Take oil in a pan, add in garlic, curry leaves, chillies and saute till golden.
    2. Now add in coconut, tamarind and saute till golden.
    3. Take this in a blender, add in salt and water and make it into a fine puree.
    4. Serve with kanji, porridge, idli or dosa..
