Thogayal is such a versatile thing to make, thogayal is little thicker than chutney so it can be either mixed with rice or as a sidedish for porridges or whatever.

Ingredients for Poondu Thogayal
- Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated
- Garlic Cloves - 5 to 6 peeled
- Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
- Dry Red Chillies - 5 to 6
- Salt to taste
- Tamarind - a small piece
- Water as needed
- Oil - 2 tsp
This is one simple thogayal with is made with garlic. The ingredients in this are roasted and ground. I served it with ulundu kanji and it was just perfect. I had some leftover which i had with dosa for dinner.
How to Make Poondu Thogayal
- Take oil in a pan, add in garlic, curry leaves, chillies and saute till golden.
- Now add in coconut, tamarind and saute till golden.
- Take this in a blender, add in salt and water and make it into a fine puree.
- Serve with kanji, porridge, idli or dosa..
