At first I thought of making massaged kale salad which I love ever since I tried it few years back. It had orange, toasted walnuts and few other yummy stuffs. But then I remembered this recipe which I came across recently so decided to try it.

    About Kale Chips

Kale is also known as leaf cabbage, it belongs to cabbage family. The leaves of this green leafy vegetable is slightly tough and thicker than spinach. It is often used in salads, cooked dishes and smoothies.

This is a simple recipe to use kale. It requires just 3 ingredients in total and the baked kale chips turn out super crispy and crunchy. All you need is oil and salt, toss the kale with this and bake in a low oven for 25 to 30 minutes until crispy.

Kale chips can be baked in oven or air fryer. You can enjoy it with some kind of yogurt dip for more tasty and substantial snack.

    Kale Chips Ingredients

Kale - I used curly variety of kale for this recipe. But any variety can be used depending on the availablity.

Oil - use neutral tasting oil like refined oil, canola oil or olive oil to toss the kale leaves.

Salt - make sure to use very little salt to flavour Kale. You can add any favorite spices that you like as well.

Tips for Best Crispy Kale Chips

Wash and dry - drying kale chips really well is very important. Make sure to wash them and pat them completely dry. For best result, spin them through salad spinner to remove any excess moisture.

Don’t over do oil and salt - using too much oil may make the kale chips to burn easily. Kale leaves will shrink when baking so don’t add too much salt, else kale chips may get salty.

No over baking - Spread kale leaves on a parchment lined baking tray and pop the baking tray into 150 degree c preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Bake until the edges start to brown but are not burnt.

Play with flavours - Once you make the basic salted kale chips, you can play around with the flavours. You can add peri peri masala, garlic herb kale chips or salt vinegar kale chips.
