Sorry guys for not posting these many days, I have got so many love letters from you all my friends, so finally I have started taking pictures in my ugly looking kitchen for “YOU” all. So don’t mind the mess in the background my dearies. My oven is not set in my kitchen, I miss baking a lot. I want to bake atleast a cake or a cookie very badly, I am asking my hubby darling to set it soon for me. I hope he will do it before this weekend.

I bought a bundle of spinach before a week. And it was lying in my fridge so sadly till two days back. I want to use it in a yummy way so that everyone in my family love it. YES I am slowly learning my new families palate, till now I have discovered that my hubby is loving whatever I make. Yesterday I had a great adventure in my life. I have never ever seen a squid in my life till yesterday, I have thought that it is the most disgusting seafood in the entire world.. But DH loves it like anything, couple of days back he bought a huge bag of this disgusting thing(sorry hubby for stressing this word out, DH never knew that I hate this ). But I want to cook something with that for him, I can’t say no to him right. So I got into action, I watched so many videos to learn how to clean squidyyyyyyy and prepared myself. Yesterday I took that bag of mess and somehow cleaned it,OH MAN THAT WAS HORRIBLE.  I got scared a little at first but later I became casual and finished that thing. I made a gravy with roasted spicy coconut, I even took pictures of it. I didn taste it, but hubby and my inlaws told that it taste so awesome and they have tasted such a yummy curry before. I will post that recipe tomorrow guys. So Stay tuned.

Enough stories off to the recipe..Oh I totally forgot about the spinach. I made a simple yet yummy palak curry with those and served it with hot roti’s and carrot raita. Hubby helped me with the carrot raita(Hard work isn’t!!). And everything came together pretty good. So here you go to the recipe.

Ingrediants:
Spinach – 3 cups packed ( I used Palak/ Pasalai Keerai)
Onion – 1 chopped finely
Tomato – 2 chopped finely

Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam – 1 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder / malli posi – 1 tblspn
Turmeric powder / Manjal podi – 1 tsp
Garam Masala powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Curd – 2 tblspn well beaten

Oil – 1 tblspn
Butter – 1 tblspn
Method:
Take spinach along with water in a sauce pan and cook it for 5 mins. Let it cool down. Take it in a blender and make into a fine puree.
Heat oil in a kadai. Add cumin and let it crackle.
Add onions and cook till golden brown.
Add in all the spice powder and mix well. Add in tomatoes and mix well.
Cover the pan and let it cook for 5 mins till the tomatoes turn mushy.
Now add in the spinach puree and mix well. Season with salt.
Let the gravy simmer for 10-15 mins.
Switch off the stove and add in curd and mix well.

Serve with a blob of butter along with roti.
Pictorial:
Take all your ingrediants
Cook your spinach and make into a puree
Crackle some cumin in oil
add onions and cook for few mins till they turn light brown
add all the spice powders and salt
and saute for 30 sec
add in tomatoes
and mix well
cover and cook
cook till the tomatoes turn mushy
add the spinach puree
and mix well
simmer for 15 mins
switch off the flame and add in beaten curd
and mix well
Serve with a dollop of butter

You and me both! I cannot stand the idea of squid. It's a good thing my hubby isn't crazy about them, I'd be in trouble then! My children like the fried calamari but I just let them eat that at a restaurant, I am still not going to fry squid!
I love palak but have never tried it like this. Maybe I will give it a go, your dish looks pretty yummy.
