    Nutella Cupcakes Recipe

Can you imagine making a cupcakes with just 4 ingredients? This is the question which I raised in my facebook. I got random answers from my viewers, one of my viewer replied that it has mayonnaise it. I was so surprised to hear that. Because I never thought that you could add mayo in a cupcake. But I realised it can be done because may is basically eggs and oil.

That is how this cupcake was born. I wanted to use minimum ingredients to bake a cupcake. Hence decided to use Nutella as base, because Nutella literally has sugar, oil, hazelnuts and cocoa.

    About Nutella Cupcakes Recipe

Even though there are so many good Nutella cupcakes recipe all over the internet. This one is worth a try specially if your kids started baking recently. Since this required minimum ingredients, anyone can make it.

The 4 ingredient used in this recipe are Nutella, flour, baking powder and an egg. I could never imagine a cupcake with just these ingredients, but it really works. These are just so amazing and came out perfect.

I made it into individual cupcake, those cupcakes turned out too cute, you just want to eat few immediately.

All you need is to add all ingredients in a bowl one by one and mix till combined. As soon as you mix eggs and Nutella, you will find the mixture slightly ceasing. But not to worry it happens. This happens when mixing tahini with lemon juice when I make my tahini sauce.

Then add in baking powder and flour, use a spatula to fold the batter. The batter will be thick, that is how it is supposed to look. If you find it super thick, then you may add a splash of milk.

You can bake the cupcakes in a regular cupcake pan or use mini cupcake moulds. The texture of the cupcakes tends to be brownie like. One tip I can give you is not to over bake the cupcakes. Else it may turn dry and dense.

    Ingredients

    • Nutella - any chocolate spread can be used. As far as it has sugar, oil in them.
    • Flour - I used plain all purpose flour for making this cupcake. If you have self rising flour, you can use that and skip baking powder instead.
    • Baking powder - You need baking powder to make the cupcakes rise and gets fluffy.
    • Egg - Egg helps hold the cupcakes and make it spongy.

    Step by Step Pictures

1)Preheat oven to 180 degree c. I use 5 individual muffin cases which is single serve. You can line muffin tin with cupcake wrappers. Since I used these cases, I greased it lightly with oil in the inside of the liners.

2)Take Nutella in a bowl, add in one egg and mix well until combined.

3)The Nutella will cease slightly but it is okay.

4)Add in baking powder and mix well into the Nutella.

5)Now add in plain flour and use a spatula to gently fold the batter till it is thick.

6)The batter will be thick. Not to worry.

7)Use an ice cream scoop to take the batter and fill muffin mould.

8)Fill muffin cases until it is half way filled. I got around 5 cupcakes.

9)Now place it into the oven and bake for 16 to 18 minutes or until it is cooked. If you are using small muffin moulds the baking time will be less.

10)Once baked remove the cupcakes from oven. Place a piece of chocolate on top of the cupcakes while it is still hot. So the chocolate melts and sticks to the cupcakes.

11)Nutella cupcakes are ready to enjoy.

    Expert Tips

    • I used a small bottle of Nutella that weighs 170 grams. You can weigh it in a weighing scale if you have larger bottle of Nutella.
    • You can use added chocolate chips or chopped chocolate in the batter.
    • Never over bake the cupcakes, else it may dry out.
    • The texture will be like a brownie, so never over bake.

    FAQ

Q: Can I use self rising flour instead of plain flour?

Yes you can use self rising flour for making this cupcakes. in that case, skip the baking powder.

Q: Should I use only nutella?

No, you can use any chocolate spread that you like.

Q: Can I frost this cupcake with any frosting?

This cupcake is rich in flavour. So you don't need any heavy frosting. You can use just powdered sugar alone.

I never though Nutella can be used as an easy topping. Also it gives a "yummy" look to the cup cakes.
