    Veg Uthappam Recipe

Uthappam is a variation in dosa where all the ingredients is added into the dosa batter and then the dosa is made.Traditionally uttapam is made with lightly sour dosa batter. But if you don’t have any of that, you could make it with regular batter or just take the dosa batter out of the fridge in the morning and make this uttapam in night. You can use ghee instead of oil, so the flavour of dosa will be so good.

Uthappam is a type of South Indian dosa. It is known as Uthappam in Tamil Nadu. Unlike a traditional dosa, which is thin and crepe-like, uttapam is thicker and filled with toppings. The name is a combination of the Tamil words Appam and Utthia or Uttria, which means Poured-Appam. Because Appam is prepared in a round-
bottomed pan, whereas Utthia-Appam is prepared in a flat skillet. It is mentioned by name in Tamil ancient literature. Tamil residents traditional breakfast consists of idli, dosai, or uttappam, usually accompanied by sambar and chutney.

What a coincidence. I made uttappams today morning for breakfast. Like Harini mentioned, I too don't saute the veggies but sprinkle finely chopped ones on top while making dosas.
