Paruppu Podi Recipe – Paruppu Podi with Garlic – Spiced Dal Powder

I wanted to share paruppu podi here for a long time. Even though this is a staple in our house, i somehow missed to share it here. Finally i made quite a few powders yesterday specially for blog. Will share all those soon.

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 15 mins
Makes: 1 cup of powder


Ingredients:

Toor Dal / Tuvaram Paruppu – 1/2 cup
Roasted Gram Dal / Pori Kadalai – 1/2 cup
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – a handful
Black Pepper – 1 tsp
Dry Red Chilli – 3
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi -1/4 tsp
Garlic – 3 to 4
Salt to taste

Method:

Take all ingredients in a kadai except salt and roast it on a low heat for 10 to 15 mins till it gets golden.

Now take this in a plate and cool it down. 

Now take this in a blender, add salt and powder it finely.

Now spoon this in a plate and cool it down.

Store it in a air tight container.

This can be served over some rice and a drizzle of ghee. You can have it with idli or dosa too.

Take all your ingredients
take them in a kadai
add asafoetida
now start roasting them
toast them on a low heat
they will get golden
set aside in a plate to cool
take it in a blender
add salt
powder finely
spoon this in a plate and cool it down
store it in a container and enjoy

This can be served over some rice and a drizzle of ghee. You can have it with idli or dosa too.
