    Potato Masala Curry Recipe with step by step picture. This Aloo Masala Curry Recipe is made with Potatoes, Fresh coconut and Cashews.

    Potato Masala Curry

     

    This is one of the recipe which is normally served in weddings here. They have this dish along with all the other poriyal, avial, kuzhambu, rasam and sambar. It is really good with rice and chapati  as well. Making it at home is not at all difficult, very easy and quick too.

    Ingredients for Potato Masala Curry

    • Potatoes - 2 large boiled, peeled and cubed
    • Oil - 2 tblspn
    • Fennel seeds / saunf / sombu -  ½ tsp
    • Cinnamon / Pattai - 1 small piece
    • Bay leaf - 1
    • Onions - 1 medium size sliced thinly
    • Green chilli - 2 slit
    • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tblspn
    • Tomatoes - 2 chopped finely
    • Red Chilli Power - 2 tsp
    • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
    • Coriander Powder / Malli Podi - 2 tsp
    • Garam Masala Powder -  1 tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Coriander leaves for garnishing
    To grind :
    • Fresh Coconut - ½ cup grated
    • Cashews - 10
    • Fennel Seeds / Saunf / Sombu - 2 tsp

    Ingredients
      

    • 2 large Potatoes peeled, cubed & boiled
    • 2 tablespoon Oil
    • ½ teaspoon Fennel seeds / saunf / sombu
    • 1 piece Cinnamon / Pattai
    • 1 Bay leaf
    • 1 medium Onions sliced thinly
    • 2 slit Green chilli
    • 1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
    • 2 Tomatoes chopped finely
    • 2 teaspoon Red Chilli Power
    • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi
    • 2 teaspoon Coriander Powder / Malli Podi
    • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
    • Salt to taste
    • Coriander leaves for garnishing
    • To grind :
    • ½ cup Fresh Coconut grated
    • 10 Cashews
    • 2 teaspoon Fennel Seeds / Saunf / Sombu

    Instructions
     

    • Take grinding ingredients in a blender and make it into a fine puree. Set aside.
    • Heat oil in a pan. Add in fennel seeds,cinnamon, bay leaf and let it sizzle.
    • Add in onions and saute till golden.
    • Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.
    • Add in tomatoes and chillies. Saute till mushy.Add in salt and mix well.
    • Now add all spice powders and give a good mix.
    • Pour water and bring it to boil. Add in potatoes and coconut masala and mix well.
    • Simmer for 5 to 8 mins.Add in coriander leaves and serve.

    Potato Masala Curry Recipe  step by step pictures

     
    Take all your ingredients
    Now lets grind, take coconut in a blender
    Add cashews
    add some fennel seeds
    grind to a smooth paste
    Heat oil and crackle in whole spices
    Add in sliced onions
    saute for few mins
    now it is well browned
    add in little ginger garlic paste
    fry for a min
    add in tomatoes
    add little salt
    saute till the tomatoes turn mushy
    Add in spice powders
    mix well
    add in little water
    add in boiled potatoes
     
    mix well..
    add in coconut masala
    mix well
    simmer for few mins
    add coriander leaves
    mix well
    serve
