    Rava Kara Kozhukattai Recipe

I love Kozhukattai, i make it quite often too. Among those this has become my latest favorite. I love to have it with spicy tomato chutney or coconut chutney

These kozhukattai are soft and perfect as breakfast or as snacks. I added some carrots in this, you can add any vegetable as you wish like beans, cabbage, capsicum. Love it to the core. So try this out and let me know how it turns out.

    About Rava Kara Kozhukattai Recipe

In Tamil, the word Pidi means to hold someone, and it is also used to measure something, such as Oru Pidi Arisi which means one fistful of rice.

Kozhukkattai, also known as kozhukatta, is a popular South Indian dumpling made from rice flour and filled with grated coconut, jaggery, or chakkavaratti. Kozhukattai, while typically sweet, can occasionally be stuffed with a savoury filling. Kerala Christians prepare it on the Saturday before Palm Sunday, hence the name Kozhukatta Saturday. Modak is a similar dish that is prepared in other parts of India. This is a popular dish for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

Sooji, also known as Rava or Semolina, is a coarse flour made from Durum wheat. The colour varies from yellow to white depending on the quality of the wheat.

    Ingredients for Rava Kozhukattai Recipe

    Sooji / Rava / Semolina :
Sooji, also known as semolina, has been a staple in Indian cuisine for centuries. Semolina, which is made from coarsely ground whole wheat, is widely used in South Indian cuisine. This coarsely ground grain is used in a variety of sweet and savoury dishes.

    Onion:
Onions are considered a basic ingredient or the foundation of Indian cooking and are used to make any gravy, curry, or bhuna dish. The flavour and aroma of onion transforms any ordinary dish into a mouthwatering and delectable one.

    Green Chilli  :
The green chillies in cooked or raw form give a fiery hot flavor. To reduce the fiery hot flavor the seeds and inner membranes could be removed which is effective at reducing the heat of the pod.
