I made this pita bread using wheat flour and it turned out so good. Plus it is so healthy. You can make a huge batch of this and freeze them by placing wax paper or parchment paper inbetween them and you can warm it up in oven or microwave when you need them.
I stuffed this pita bread with this spinach egg scramble and it is delicious. You can stuff it with some sliced up veggies and drizzle some tahini sauce or hummus over them. It taste divine. Or you can spread it with some garlic mayo and stuff it with grilled chicken slices, YUM YUM..
Resting Time : 1 Hour or 2 Hours
Cooking Time : 1 min for cooking each pita
Serves : 5 to 6 pita
Whole Wheat Flour / Atta – 1.5 cup
Yeast – 3/4 tsp
Sugar – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Warm Water – Little less than 3/4 cup
Oil – 1 tsp
Method:
Take yeast, sugar and few tblspn of warm water in a bowl and mix well. Leave it to activate for 5 mins.
Take wheat flour, salt and oil in a bowl and mix well.
Add in warm water and the yeast water and knead it to a soft dough.
Cover it with a cloth and place it in a warm place. let it rise for 1 hour or 2 hours till it is double in size.
Now knock the air out, and knead it once. Cut it into a equal portions and shape them into rounds.
Take one round, dust it with more flour. Roll it into little thick rounds.
Place it in hot tawa, cook for few sec till small bubbles forms on top, flip over and cook for few sec. Now flip the pita top side over hot tawa till it puffs up.
Now remove it to a plate. Cut it in half, and stuff it with any filling.
Serve.

Now the yeast mix must be activated |
Pour warm water into the flour |
add in yeast mix |
knead it into a soft dough |
cover with a towel |
let it rise |
punch the air out |
knead again to a dough |
Divide it into equal portions |
shape it into round |
take a ball |
roll it round, it should be thick |
heat a tawa |
place the pita bread |
let small bubbles form |
flip over |
Now just like phulka put it on flame |
It will slowly puff up |
look how puffy it looks |
Now put it back on tawa and cook for few more mins |
DONE |
You can cut it open |
LOOK AT THE POCKET |
Stuff it with any filling |
Serve |

I came across ur site yesterday when searching for Pressure cooker baked cakes for my sister as she does not have an oven & I had to literally smack my head for not finding this treasure earlier 🙂

I've only one question on this Pita bread… u have mentuioned that you can make in bulk and freeze.. how long can this be frozen???
