    About Oats Chapati (Oat Roti)

    Roti or chapati is one of the staple dish which we cook at home. So this hack of adding oat flour is a great way to add some fibre in your day to day meal. Oats chapati is a healthy recipe which taste great as well. This is great way of adding oats in your diet.

    Oats is rich in fibre and we make oatmeal | oats porridge for breakfast most of the time. But some don't prefer to make porridge, so this is a great hack to include oats in your diet. Start by dry roasting oats in a pan and grind them to a powder in a blender. This is your oat flour. You can keep them in a container at room temperature.

    I prefer to add a spoonful of this oat flour in my smoothies or milkshakes to add extra fibre and thick creamy texture. Similarly you can add oat flour to your atta and make roti.

    Wheat Flour / Atta : Wheat flour is the main ingredient for the oatmeal chapati dough. It adds strength to the dough with fibre content. 

    Oat Flour - Oat flour is added for the healthy nutrient rich ingredient. It adds fibre and protein to your roti. I used homemade oat flour. 

    How to Make Oats Chapati (Stepwise Pictures)

    Take wheat flour in a bowl
    add oat flour (check this link for recipe)
    add salt
    mix well
    add water
    knead to a dough
    knead for a good 5 mins to get a soft dough..leave it to rest for 15 mins
    now divide it into equal balls
    take a ball and dust with flour
    roll it into roti
    place it on a hot tawa
    cook till the top is slightly cooked
    flip over and cook
    flip over and cook 
    if you press the top, then it will puff up
    Serve

    Expert Tips

    • Make sure to make the dough soft and smooth. So your roti turn out softer.
    • Knead the dough for atleast 2 to 3 minutes until the dough is soft.
    • Resting the dough for few minutes makes oats roti soft.
    • You can use ghee instead of oil for cooking roti.

    Serving & Storage

    Oats roti can be stored in a hot casserole to keep warm. You can enjoy it with any curries of choice.

    Equipment

    • Mixing Bowl
    • Rolling Pin & Rolling Board

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup Wheat Flour
    • ¼ cup Oat Flour
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • ½ cup Water or as needed
    • Oil for making roti

    Instructions

    • Take wheat flour, oats flour, salt and mix well. Add water slowly and knead to a soft dough. Now set aside so the dough can rest for 15 mins.
    • Divide it into equal balls. Now roll each dough ball into a roti.
    • Place the roti on a hot pan, cook both sides till done. Serve.
