Best Paneer Tikka Recipe

Paneer tikka is one of the most requested recipe. Even though i have a stove top version. I always wanted to share a authentic version of it, which is made in oven. Finally i made it today and it turned out to be so good.

Paneer tikka has its binding agent gram flour, it is so healthy as well. It get its tangyness from lemon juice and chat masala..Totally finger licking good..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Marinating Time : Overnight
Cooking Time : 20 mins
Serves : 3 to 4


Onion - 1 large cubed
Capsicum / Bell Pepper - 1 cubed
Tomatoes - 2 cubed and seeds removed
Ghee for drizzling on top
Chat Masala for sprinkling on top

For Marination:
Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 2 tblspn
Chat Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Kasuri Methi Leaves - 2 tsp
Gram Flour / Besan / Kadalai Mavu - 3 tblspn
Lemon Juice - 1 tsp or to taste
Salt to taste


Mix all ingredients for marination. Add in cubed veggies and paneer. Mix gently. Leave this to marinate for 3 to 4 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 250 Degree C. Set the oven to grill mode. Line a baking tray with foil, brush with some ghee.

Now take skewers and skewer the veggies.

Pop it in oven and grill for 10 mins. Remove it, flip the skewer, grill for another 8 to 10 mins.

Remove it, brush with ghee, sprinkle chat masala.

Serve hot.

You need paneer, onion, capsicum, tomatoes

cut it like this

take your other ingredients

Take curd in a bowl

add in some kashmiri chilli powder

add in some chat masala powder

Add in cumin powder and turmeric powder

add in some garam masala powder

add in ginger garlic paste

add in kasuri methi leaves

add in some gram flour

some salt

squeeze in some lemon juice

mix really well

add in capsicum

some tomatoes

some onions

mix well

add in paneer cubes

toss well

now take your skewers

start skewering

add a onion cube

add in capsicum cube

add in paneer cube.

repeat like this

all done

brush some ghee on a tray

place the tikka skewers and grill them

this is how it looks after 10 mins

flip them over

this is how it looks after 10 more mins of grilling

now take some ghee

brush it over hot tikka

sprinkle some chat masala


enjoy with onion slices and lemon wedges

  13. the preheating should be done in grill mode or in baking mode.. because i have preheat options for both the modes.. pls guide..

  18. Real taste of tikka is from Mustard Oil. try replacing ghee with mustard oil.

  20. Aarthi, you have to dry roast the besanwith some ajwain before adding to the marinade... And also heat some mustard oil and then cool it and add while marinating paneer/chicken...
