    Spicy Chicken tikka recipe

Chicken tikka is a famous dish all over India. Traditionally it is made in tandoor oven,But I made it in normal oven. It still tasted great. The main thing you should remember is the marination of the chicken. I marinated over night so the flavour went deep into the chicken. You could let it marinate upto 2 days. You could serve this as it is. But I made Chicken tikka masala with this and served it with rice. I will post it tomorrow. Hot Chicken Tikka with a squeeze of lemon juice taste like heaven. My mouth is watering went I write this post. Ok anyway here you go for the recipe.

Chicken Tikka Recipe with step by step pictures. Chicken pieces marinated in a yogurt, spices and cooked till tender and juicy in oven, tandoor or tawa.

    Ingredients for Chicken Tikka

    • Chicken Breast- ½ kg
    • For Marinate:
    • Curd-1 cup
    • Red chilli powder-1 tblspn
    • Garam masala powder-2 tsp
    • Turmeric powder-1 tsp
    • Ginger Garlic paste-2 tblspn
    • Cardamom powder-1 tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Lemon juice-2 tblspn
    • Red Food Colouring-a pinch

    How to Make Chicken Tikka

    1. Mix the marinate ingredients together. Now add in chopped chicken pieces and mix well.
    2. Let this marinate in the fridge over night.
    3. Preheat the oven to the highest temperature. Mine went to 250°C(500°F).
    4. Take the chicken out of the fridge before 30 mins so that it comes to room temperature and cooks evenly.
    5. Arrange it in a foil lined baking tray.
    6. Place the tray in the top rack and grill the chicken for 10 mins.
    7. When 10 mins is over take the chicken out and apply the rest of the marinate over this and place it back in the oven for 10 mins.
    8. Now mix lemon juice, oil, chat masala powder together for basing the chicken.
    9. Now take the tray out. Turn the chicken over and base it with the lemon liquid and place it back in the oven for 5 more mins.
    10. Cook the chicken for 5 mins until the chicken is cooked and gets a little charred around the edges.
    11. Remove this and serve hot.

You say grill and bake both. when you say grill do you mean the top grill option? or do you mean bake only?

Are you using OTG or Microwave oven in grill mode?
My 2nd question is, does foil paper work in OTG Ovens, it doesnt burn?

You can use that broil option. It depends on the size of chicken.
