Fig Preserves Recipe - Fig Jam Recipe using Brown Sugar

I love making jams, not only it is healthy to make at home. But homemade jams taste really delicious than the store bought kind.Whenever i see some overly ripe fruits lying around i make jam out of them. I never waste anything. Sometimes i even buy fruits to make jam..This is one jam which i made like that..

Figs are really good for you..I made this jam for amma..I decided to add little sugar to it. I thought of adding jaggery in this, but i ran out of it..So i added demerara sugar and it turned out yummy..Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 20 to 25 mins
Makes : around 300 grams

Figs - 20
Brown Sugar / Jaggery or Demerara Sugar - 1/2 cup

Put a plate in freezer.

Sterilize a glass jar, remove and set aside to drain.

Take 3/4th of the figs in a blender and puree. Take that in a pan.

Add in remaining chopped figs along with sugar and mix well.

Cook this for 15 mins on medium heat till it gets thick and leaves the sides.

Spoon a little bit on the plate and it will get thick like a jam, this is when you know that the jam is done.

Cool it a bit and spoon it into the jar. Cover it and store in fridge.

First Take a plate

Place it in freezer
I always keep the jam jar and pickle jars at home, they are heat proof..Now to sterlize this, cover with water and boil it for 5 mins

Remove it and set aside to drain

You need some figs and sugar..I used demerara sugar..
You can use jaggery or normal sugar too

Take 3/4 th of the figs in a blender

puree smoothly

pour it in a pan

add in 1/4th of chopped figs

add in sugar

mix well

the sugar will melt down

now keep mixing it

it will get thick

the colour will darken too

now the jam is almost done

pour some jam over a frozen plate..

When you bring it together it will come like a jam

Now fill your jar

cover it and put it in fridge..this is smartness in a jar

Enjoy with toast..
