This is my first ever scones recipe. I have made it before, it is a candied ginger flavoured one. But i didn’t take pictures of it. So i decided to make for this season and share it. This is a basic irish scones recipe and it taste amazing. So buttery and delicious.

You can serve this with jam and whipped cream, it taste amazing. I will be sharing a eggless version soon.

Makes: 12 small scones

All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1 3/4 cup (210 grams)
Sugar – 1/4 cup (50 grams)
Baking Powder – 2 tsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Cold Unsalted Butter – 5 tblspn cubed
Milk – 1/2 cup / 120 ml
Egg – 1
Raisans – 1/3 cup (optional)
(My 1 cup measures 240 ml)
Preheat oven to 425 degree C / 220 degree F.
Mix egg and milk together and put it in fridge till needed.
Take flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix well.
Add in cubed cold butter into it and use a fork to mix it into the flour to create crumble like.
Now add in raisans and mix well.
Now add in the wet ingredients and use the fork to bring it together.
Now take it in a work surface and flatten it. Now use a cookie cutter to cut out scone shapes.
Now arrange it in a baking tray and brush with the remaining milk and egg mix. Sprinkle top with some sugar and bake for 14 to 17 mins.
Now remove from oven and cool slightly.
Serve with jam and cream.
