Chicken strips is my all time favourite. I used to order it often. It is so easy to make at home as well. The recipe is same as my potato wedges recipe, the coating it crispy and little spicy.

    About Chicken Strips

Chicken strips also known as chicken tenders or chicken fingers is an easy appetizer which you can make using chicken. The recipe is very easy, all the flavours come from the spice mix which we make.

You can add all the seasonings and spices in into the flour and coat well. This coating makes the chicken strips super tender, flavourful and juicy. I made this yesterday and it has become my favourite. It was so easy to make, but the taste is just fantastic.

The recipe is super simple, add you do is mix your favorite seasoning into the flour along with a touch of baking powder which create the crispy layer. And you don't need eggs or buttermilk in this.

All you do is coat the chicken in the seasoned flour, dip them in ice water and then coat again in the same flour. I followed this technique for my Kfc Chicken and it works everytime.

The technique of dipping the chicken in ice cold water helps with the crispy texture. You have to try it. And once fried, i toss my chicken in peri peri spice mix for taste.

    Ingredients

    • Chicken - you can use chicken tenders or boneless chicken breast cut into strips.
    • Seasoning - I used garlic powder, paprika, black pepper powder, dried oregano, dried rosemary, salt, msg.
    • Baking powder - helps create the flaky crispy texture on the outside of the chicken.
    • Flour - I used a combination of plain flour and cornstarch.
    • Peri peri seasoning - this is added over the fried chicken as soon as it comes out of the fryer.

    Step by Step Pictures

1)Start by mixing the breading for the chicken. In this bowl, I added plain flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, rosemary, black pepper powder, salt and msg. Along with that, i added little baking powder also.

2)Mix this really well, this is your dry ingredients.

3)Now take your chicken strips and coat with this flour mixture. You can use chicken tenders or slice boneless chicken breast into long pieces.

Once the chicken is coated well with the chicken, remove it from the flour.

4)Dunk it in ice cold water for few seconds.

5)Now dip the chicken back into the flour mixture. This coating create flaky exterior on the chicken and makes it super crispy.

6)I like to squeeze the chicken in this seasoned flour to create a flaky exterior coating.

7)Set this aside while we heat the oil for deep frying.

8)Drop the chicken in hot oil, let it fry on high heat for 4 to 5 minutes.

9)Once the chicken is fried till crispy and golden, remove it from the hot oil.

10)Add it to a bowl, sprinkle with peri peri spice mix for spicy kick. Toss once and serve hot with dipping sauce of choice.

    11)Serve hot.
