Fried ice cream is nothing but a surprise bomb dessert. It has a crispy, golden outer layer with the cold, creamy ice cream inside. It is a quite tricky dessert, but it can be made easily at home with simple ingredients like ice cream, oil, cornflakes and biscuits. The combination of hot and cold in every bite will be a real treat. Serve it on a plate or bowl with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, nuts and berries.

Fried Ice cream, one of my favourite desert of all time. I used to order it in restaurants whenever we dine out. It has a hot crispy outer cover and cool and creamy ice cream in the middle which was about to melt..YUM YUM.

Many of my viewers requested this recipe, so i am sharing it with you all..Normally these ice cream are coated in egg, but when i searched for a eggless version i came across this recipe in a youtube cooking video and followed that method..It worked like a charm.

Fried ice cream is a fun and surprising dessert. Generally ice creams can be enjoyed on its own, but how about adding a hot crispy coating on the outside. Sounds interesting, isn't it? It's just a simple idea that makes our way of eating ice cream more interesting.
Fried ice cream is one of the popular desserts in Chinese and Mexican cuisine. A ball of fried ice cream along with whipped cream, drizzle of chocolate sauce and cherry on top is truly a melt in mouth delicious dessert.
The ice cream is the foundation of the recipe. So it should be completely frozen hard like rock. When frozen, it will stick to the corn crumb mixture and also will not melt or loosen up while frying. The frying part hardly takes 10 to 20 seconds. But the major time consuming part of the recipe is freezing the ice cream. Once fried, it is ready to serve immediately with chocolate sauce, salted caramel sauce and whipped cream.

I love this fried ice cream because it is full of surprises. This dessert is a magic where the warm, crispy outer layer with cold, creamy ice cream is pure heaven in every bite. It is one of the desserts that may sound and look fancy, but it is so fun to make at home with kids. The entire process of making and eating the fried ice cream is so unique and enjoyable.
Ingredients

Vanilla ice cream : This is the main ingredient of the dessert. I have used vanilla ice cream as it will taste subtle. You can get creative with making other flavoured ice creams like mango, strawberry, butterscotch and chocolate. Whatever flavour you chose, freeze the ice cream scoop until it is hard.
Cornflakes : Use any plain corn flakes for coating the ice cream balls. It helps to achieve a crispy, golden crunchy outer layer.
Cookies or biscuits : I have used my homemade cookies. Any neutral flavoured cookies work well for this recipe like digestive biscuits, milk bikis. Crush them coarsely along with cornflakes for the ultimate crust.
Cornflour : The original recipe uses egg for the coating. But I want to make it as an eggless version. So I have used cornflour and milk to form a paste. Don't make the paste too runny. It should properly stick to the crumb mixture and ice cream.
Oil : Oil is used for deep frying the ice cream balls. Use any neutral oil like canola oil, vegetable oil.
Garnishing : For the garnishing part, I have used whipped cream, cherries and chocolate sauce. Other ingredients like honey, condensed milk, caramel sauce, chocolate shavings and chopped nuts can also be added while serving.

Hacks
Scooping : Line a baking tray with aluminium foil. Scoop the ice creams and place on the tray. Freeze it for 4 hours or overnight until it is completely frozen hard.
Prep work : Blend cornflakes and biscuits into a coarse powder. In a bowl, mix cornflour and milk without any lumps. Set aside.
Crumble coating : Take the ice cream scoop one by one, coat it with cornflake mixture, dip in milk mix, again coat it with crumbs. Place the coated ice cream scoop again in the freezer and let it freeze for 4 hours or overnight.
Frying : Heat oil in a pan, take the ice cream ball from the freezer and place it on a slotted spoon. Dip in the hot oil, fry and immediately remove it from the heat.
Air frying : Worried about oil splash or oil consumption, then air fry the frozen ice cream. Spray some oil over the balls and air fry it for 3 minutes.

Expert Tips
- Freeze the tray that you're going to place the ice cream ball in.
- Repeat the crumb coating twice for extra crunch.
- Use a slotted spoon to fry and remove quickly.
- Fry the ice cream ball one at a time.
- Take the ice cream ball just a second before frying, don't let it sit out for long.
- To add flavour to the coating, add a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon powder.
- For added crunch, use cereals or nuts along with crumb mixture.
STORAGE
Wrap the crumb coated ice cream individually using aluminium foil. Place them in an airtight container. It can be stored in the freezer for 1 to 2 months.
SERVING
Serve the fried ice cream immediately along with cherries, chocolate sauce. Pipe whipped cream on top of fried ice cream right before serving.

Fried Ice Cream Recipe | How to Make Fried Ice Cream at Home
Ingredients
- ½ liter Vanilla Ice cream use good quality
- 1 cup Cornflakes
- 5 to 6 Cookies or Biscuits
- 1.5 tablespoon Cornflour
- ½ cup Milk
- Oil for deep frying
- Whipped Cream as needed for decorating
- Chocolate sauce as needed for decorating
- Cherries or any Fruits for serving
Instructions
- Scoop icecream on a foil lined plate and pop it freezer for 3 to 4 hours till completely frozen.
- Mix cornflour with milk and set aside. Take cornflakes and biscuit in a blender and blend coarsely. Take this in a plate and set aside.
- Now take icecream and coat it in the crumbs and dip it in cornflour milk and coat it again in crumbs and pop it in freezer for 3 to 4 hours or overnight.
- Now before frying, heat oil and prepare plate for serving by decorating it with cream and chocolate sauce and fruits.
- Now take one icecream ball from freezer in a slotted spoon and dip it once in oil. Remove it immediately and place onto a serving plate.
- Top with cream and cherries and serve immediately

This is our ever time favourite desert Arthi. Very well done dear. Need a bit more perfection on shaping the Icecream as a ball. Layering trice gives more tastier too. The more we layer , the more it crispy. Need lot of patience to make this, but it worth a lot. Yum yum 😋😋
